SUMO y Los Hermanos del Alma first single « Oya » is an original and powerful blend of afro-cuban percussions meeting afro-funk influences, carried by a traditional and spiritual Yoruba song. A kind of UFO where the sounds of afro-beat guitars, electro keyboards, afro-cuban bass on heavy-funky drums, join those of Cuban religious rythmes and  culture resulting in a trancy groove through the mesmerizing Yoruba chant.

Top Cuban Dj/producer Wichy de Vedado remixed  the first single « Oya » of SUMO y Los Hermanos del Alma. This is an invitation into an hypnotic and mystical journey. An original and innovative fusion of the mesmerizing Yoruba traditional chant with afro-cubans rythmes and futuristic electronic sounds driven by funky-flying guitar riffs. Deep is the word, welcome to another world ; this is afro-cuban-deep-electronic music.

Oya Wichy de Vedado Remix

Since its creation in the late 90s, we have seen SUMO roam various territories: electro, soul, funk, house, dub… Loyal to their initial state of mind, the group made up of brothers Alex (guitar, vocal, lyrics) and Fred Sumi (bass, production, composition) doesn’t box itself into one specific style, embarking instead on a constant musical odyssey. For its 6th opus “Oya”, the journey continues by exploring new horizons, rhythms and sounds. The group exiled itself to Cuba with two tours: Habanarte festival in 2016 and Cubadisco in 2017.
