Trial and Error is the 17th release on Frankey & Sandrino's Sum Over Histories: a 2 track EP from Scatcity label head Skatman which cements his reputation as one of the most progressive artists in house and a firm favourite amongst Sum Over Histories ever-growing roster. 

Trial and Error starts methodical and hypnotic, acting as a reflection of a year spent behind the computer instead of the decks. But the stillness is soon disrupted with piercing synths and complex melodies with ever-intricate layers that result in a chaotic yet controlled crescendo. Skatman demonstrates his production puppet mastery when he strips it all back, ending the track as minimalist as it began.

About : 

Casomat is a new Berlin-based label, founded by a tight-knit group of electronic music lovers & scene stalwarts and headed by DJ/producer Schtu. The idea behind the label is to showcase up & coming talent and help them gain the recognition deserved by additionally bringing in established and proven remixers to feature on the releases.
The first release is by Schtu himself, and features two original tracks as well as remixes by Murat Uncuoglu (Innervisions, Exit Strategy, Sum Over Histories, Isolate) and Simao (Fryhide, Become One, Blaufield).
The style of the EP lies over towards the housier end of the fairly broad ‘melodic house & techno’ spectrum, with Schtu showcasing his love of analog synths and live drums combined with meticulous programming and clever arrangement.
Murat Uncuoglu, coming off the back of a highly acclaimed EP on Frankey & Sandrino’s ‘Sum Over Histories’, takes Siberian Express a notch deeper with some serious sound-design wizardy and a frankly outrageous bassline.
Portuguese-born, London-based Simao, signed to HOSH’s ‘fryhide’ label, reworks Clarinet Jam into a dark & hard-hitting peak-time club track, with a hypnotic and infectious groove sporadically giving way to huge sweeps and massive impacts.

Vini Pastori from Sao Paulo is the next up for Dantze. With his EP called ‚No Dialogue‘ he went into bending the known sound of Dantze. He is playing around with the borders of being in or being out of tune. This he combined with much layered synths and untypical sounds to create a different sound built, which is standing on pillars of dance music was we know it.

About :

The 28th EP of the label consists of three elegant tracks. There are two originals by the talented Spanish artist Paralel, of which the title track ‘Rose of Jericho’ got remixed by the renowned French artist Remcord.

The first track, called ‘Rose of Jericho’, is also the title track of the EP. Throughout the track there is a rising intensity, caused by minimalistic differences in the main elements. It’s a very detailed track, with an almost continuous high energy. This energy only got interrupted by two intriguing small breaks.

In his remix, Remcord took some of the smaller parts of the original and with his analog workflow he kept the analog vibe of the full EP. He added some sophisticated elements, starting with the interesting lead melody and his own spacey voice recordings. He managed to create a very thoughtful remix with a lot different aspects, which are forming a great unity together. 

The third and last track of the EP is called ‘L’Immortel’. This is a dreamy one, but just as the other original it’s keeping a high intensity. The combination of the raw and elegant synths and percussion makes this track suitable for a lot of different sets. Also, Paralel gave this track a slightly emotional touch, which forms a lovely closing to this EP.

Silent Types is the single of this EP, it comes in two versions and is accompanied by a monumental remix by Nico Morano.

The Piano Version, is a very touching song where the warm vocal takes the lead, layered beautifully and guided by an eminent piano composition. Next we get the 'Original Mix', where Boy Oh Boy focused clearly on the summer open airs. It's a steady dance-floor structure with a nifty groove and a solid beat, but without loosing the emotional character of the warm vocal.

Many Hours Later is the second song of this release, it's a progressive banger as we like them! A strong bassline, a tight kick drum, neat percussion and another amazing vocal by 'Age is a Box'! The breakdown has got us from the first time and the drop following is pure goosebumps.
