Often the best music gets made when people get out of their comfort zone and venture into new territory. That is what I felt listening to these tracks from Ukrainian veteran Alexander Pavlenko. He has a long history in drum ‘n bass as Sunchase, and as Na Nich, you might have heard him on Rhythm Büro or Semantica, but this release reveals another side of him that we haven’t heard before.

The Karpati EP kicks off with ‘Manipulation’. A rolling sub and punchy drums propel the track’s momentum forward and make it dancefloor-ready. The sounds on top take inspiration from multiple genres for a track that finds a perfect balance between the deeper sides of both house and techno.

Next up is ‘Still There’, a stripped deep house tune where filtered percussion, pads and vocals alternate each other, flowing in and out of focus.

Title track ‘Karpati’, a hypnotic techno track, takes inspiration from the mountain region in western Ukraine, the melody reflecting a similar beauty as the Carpathian nature. Add Na Nich’s expert sound design on top, and the result is a deep and captivating trip.

‘Morning Habit’ rounds up the EP by slowing things down for a dubbed out house cut. Chords playfully bounce over the beat for a tune suitable for either the early or very late mornings.

Na Nich began his musical journey in the late 90s under the moniker Sunchase and quickly gained recognition with prominent releases on labels like Moving Shadow and DSCI4. Later, he expanded his sound and started his own labels, Kvadrat and 22:22, and became one of the founding members of Rhythm Büro.

Alexander is now an accomplished techno and breakbeat producer, sought after mastering engineer, and has even had his music featured in video games. He is known for his love of analog gear and his highly regarded live setup, and regardless of genre, his music always showcases his trademark groove and engineering perfection.

Bio:
Born in Dnipro, Alexander started his musical journey in the late 1990s and quickly made a name for himself under the moniker "Sunchase" with a series of successful releases in the drum & bass scene. He was featured on prominent imprints like Moving Shadow, Metalheadz, Hospital, and others.
After moving to Kyiv, Alexander expanded his musical repertoire and added new genres to his style, which deepened his sound while maintaining its cutting-edge quality. During this time, he founded the labels Kvadrat and 22:22, and became a founding member of Rhythm Büro, a techno initiative in Kyiv that brings together the genre's most innovative minds to various unique locations across the city.
Rhythm Büro has since become well-known both in Ukraine and internationally, not only as an event brand, but also as a musical imprint that features some of Alexander's works under the newly established alias "Na Nich".
As a sought-after techno and breakbeat producer, Alexander is now a highly accomplished mastering engineer with a solid portfolio of impressive releases and projects. His music has reached beyond dance floors and music collections, with some of his tracks appearing in games by Rockstar Games and Sony Computer Entertainment.
Today, Alexander focuses on his solo live sets, as well as live performances with his wife Vera Logdanidi, which range from techno to house. He has performed at venues such as Bassiani, Brave Factory, Natura, Closer, and others, and has been featured on Svreca's Semantica Records and Oblique Music NL.
Regardless of the genre, Alexander's music is characterized by his signature groove and engineering perfection, and he remains forward-thinking in his approach.

Na Nich returns to his roots after a series of successful releases on respected labels such as Delsin, Semantica, On Board, and Fur:ther Sessions. The Ukrainian producer’s latest EP pays tribute to his foundation in broken beats and bass music — the core of his craft before adopting the Na Nich moniker.
Co-founder of Rhythm Büro and formerly known as Sunchase, Oleksandr Pavlenko shifted from his decades-long bass music career towards house and techno about ten years ago. Yet those early influences never truly disappeared. On Your Curves, Oleksandr skillfully blends his bass-heavy legacy with the sonic palettes characteristic of his later work, merging two worlds into a cohesive sound.
The A-side opens with ‘Unfulfilled Expectations’, a deep roller rich with bass textures and mellow synths. It’s followed by ‘Everything’, a slow burner infused with ’90s vibes, featuring old-school vocal samples and a drum pattern reminiscent of UK garage. On the flip side, ‘Rain Inside’ delivers the EP’s grooviest moment, with broken beats crafted for the dancefloor and an intimate, close-your-eyes 4 a.m. mood. The title track, ‘Your Curves’, closes the EP with a deep and melancholic atmosphere.
This release stands out amid contemporary offerings, reminding listeners that essence always triumphs over form.

'Sands Of Time' starts with echoing hi-hats as beautiful filmic vocals cry into the distance and set the scene for this dancefloor opus. Just as you drift off into the intros seismic waves you're forced to seek cover as the breakbeats drop like a slab of concrete. Shuffling edits and huge analogue waves battle for supremacy as the heavy rhythms play havoc with your senses. Think 'gladiator' meets 'aliens vs predator'… The creepy intro of 'Isida' takes you on a journey through eastern percussion and crouching tiger style string arrangements. Beautiful vocals resonate amongst the dark rolling drums and huge bass lines. A perfect blend of heavy rhythms and uplifting melodies ensure this is guaranteed to smash dance floors worldwide. 'As We Look' gives us another vocal workout, but this time the sultry female tones emphasize the driving breaks and fluctuating bass lines that motor forward at heavy pace. Layered breaks gain more momentum as the tracks solid rhythm's interlock at every turn. This is a straight up slice of tech-funk that is definitely gonna see some heavy rotation in the coming months. The EP is rounded off with a fantastic piece of techno funk. The structure of 'Next Rhythm' is entirely synthetic, yet it breathes soul and oozes funk. A neurotic 'speak and spell' chants the track title as complex, robotic rhythms snap together building a wall of breaks and bass. An absolutely infectious head nodder that will definitely have them flocking to the booth to find out what it is.
