October 2021's "Spark" saw Petar Dundov at his beautifully melodic best. Now returning to the twin-track EP, "Day Unseen (Particles Edition)" sees a pair of new remixes from rising Russian and Argentinean stars.

An artist with a clutch of hugely impressive releases stretching back to a debut for NewBorn Records in mid-2010, Izzet has continued to release his atmospheric work on an array of blue-chip labels that include Liquid Grooves, Clinique Recordings and the renowned Visceral compilation series. Moreover, the Russian producer has been responsible for three original EPs on Particles via January 2019's "Summer Goodbye", March 2021's "Abstract Distortion" and March 2022's "Puncher". In between, remixes for Rafa'EL, Pole Folder and Savvas have followed as Izzet returns with a magical reworking of "Spark" that is dominated by cavernous beat and bristling shaker-fuelled percussion. A bassline groove adds dancefloor character as smooth pads hint towards the introduction of melodic themes from Petar's original. A delicate arpeggio is introduced that filters its way across the 6-minute piece in hypnotising fashion to create a distinctive new reworking.

Originally from Patagonia at the southern end of South America, but now firmly ensconced in Córdoba, Martina Mossoni and Matías Villafañe are a rapidly rising duo who have created quite a stir within the underground dance fraternity through their Alto Astral moniker. Able to combine live performances with more traditional DJ sets, the pair's production work has seen them hit the ground running since a Balkan Connection debut in April 2021. With original and remix material subsequently signed to the likes of Movement, 3rd Avenue and AH Digital, December 2021 saw the Argentinean artists make their Particles debut with a remix of Juan Deminicis' "Rebellion". Now returning to the label, their remix of "Day Unseen" immediately echoes the themes of Petar's track as a running bass groove and head-shaking percussive cadence pave the way for Martina's vocal melodies to drift across near 10-minute piece in captivating fashion. Sublime melodic phrasing and emotive key changes provide a sonic anchor to the original, particularly at the breakdown, but the presence of effects-laden vocal layers and white-noise crescendo, make for a powerful drop that powers the reworking forward to its dramatic conclusion. The result is a sparking gem of a remix from Alto Astral.

Presenting their second release of the year, Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Emi Galvin to the label for his debut EP. Argentinean DJ and producer Emi Galvin has consistently defied expectations throughout his much-lauded decade-long career. Through the success of early tracks like 2016's ‘Taking Over' and ‘Universe', the Buenos Aires resident emerged into one of the progressive scene's most promising talents. A rich musical background with time spent in rock bands playing guitar and singing gave Emi's electronic compositions a measurable creative edge. This elusive sound did not go unnoticed as he quickly earned the praise of genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren; while landing career defining releases via Balance, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. Also, an accomplished DJ, Emi's long undulating sets have been applauded for their impeccable track selection and exquisite programming. As one of Argentina's most in demand DJs, Emi has travelled the world, delighting crowds in Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Peru, Romania, Russia, Spain and Uruguay. Forever choosy in his projects, Emi now begins his 2023 production schedule by adding Replug to his resume with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Samsara'. 

As the progressive rhythms and exotic drums of opener ‘Samsara' unfold, it's clear that Emi's craft must be taken to heart. Capsizing basslines cleverly co-ax with punchy beats and thought-provoking vocals as an epic collage of sonic energies takes shape. The Argentine allows the nine-minute journey to build patiently, exploring all paths for its oriental synth melodies, carrying the listener away on a cosmic pilgrimage to reconnect with feelings of hope, freedom and possibility. The worldly arc of both the melodic and vocal elements parallels the increasing depth of Galvin's sonic palette, whereby his classic combination of room rocking grooves and genuine musicality becomes its most dynamic, and most powerful.

Beneath the potent tidal waves of ‘Samsara' lies the hyperventilating helium rush of ‘Around the World'. Evoking a confident club vibe from the start, Emi's recalibrated sonics, emotionally resonant hooks and fragmented vocals blanket a deep muscular framework. With an infectious energy that could win over even the most discerning of heads, it's a journey that becomes unabashedly epic at its peak. Galvin pulls from his progressive repertoire, infusing hip-swinging chord stabs, panoramic synths and broken-beat rhythms across a break that is equal parts tense and emotive, before tactfully building towards a finale of colourful atmospherics and jet-engine exhaust.

The ‘Samsara' showcase finds Emi releasing his first solo originals in over three years, never once losing momentum as they mercurially move from elusive melodies and captivating breaks to dramatic dancefloor thunder - a suggestion that this might be a standout in Galvin's meticulous catalog.

Reinvigorating their collaborative partnership Dmitry Molosh and Michael A return to Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'Integral'. Hailing from Belarus, both Dmitry and Michael sit amongst progressive music's elite guard. Their respective solo productions continue to earn play and support from the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also landing them releases on Hope Recordings and Sudbeat Music. Also calling Replug a comfortable home, Dmitry and Michael now return to the label with their first collaborative project in almost four years.

Much loved for their exploration of all things progressive and groovy, the Belarus duo exceeds expectations here, delivering two stunning pieces of music beginning with the title selection 'Integral'. Set in motion by a warm, chunky foundation, its robust core comes up quickly, with layers of finely tuned drums, crunchy rhythms and squelchy synths uniting in a fiery sonic comet. Shifting energy into the main break, heartfelt harmonics and fragmented melodies gently blanket the electric underbelly, resonating on a higher frequency as tasteful modulation rises and the groove drops for a chugging finale.

Operating on a similar sonic plane is the companion piece 'Twelve Days'. Otherworldly in nature, tough beats and dark stabs anchor the journey as the piece flows through a series of pulsating rhythms and mind-bending effects. Continuing on an unpredictable storyboard, ominous overlays and percussive flashes highlight the first act, perfectly setting up an icy break. Adding further intrigue, a wave of tranquil arps provide an effervescent foundation for the duo's dystopian soundscapes, before building to a granular sizzle as a rush of drums ignites a powerful crescendo. It caps off a hugely successful project from two of progressive music's most talented artists, further solidifying Replug's place at the top of this burgeoning genre.
