It may come as a surprise to some, that in 2014, Armada Music appears to be making its first foray into a chill compilation. After all, Armada tunes have been essential to countless chill-out compilations for over a decade. Ever since the Gabriel & Dresden Chill Mix of Motorcycle's 'As the Rush Comes' first took over the world, the record label has produced a constant string of tracks and remixes that have found their way to relaxing locations around the globe. And now, overflowing with talent and tunes, the time has come to give each special song a new home.

From the soul-wrenching instrumentation of Michael St. Laurent's 'All Gone', to Moe Turk's jazz-infused opener, to a couple of spaced-out beauties courtesy of Rodg, the only unifying factor in this compilation is exquisite, blissful calm. One of the breakaway tracks from the compilation comes from rising Parisian talent KRONO, who deliver a powerful hit with Amsterdam vocalist Cimo Fränkel - 'Sweet Goodbye' is already making waves, and it's a force to be reckoned with.

Familiar, yet bold and new, the tone of this double mix compilation is one of over-arching beauty and deep relaxation. Pooling together dozens of exceptional tracks spanning a wide tempo range, Armada Chill 001 presents the genre as it should be - effortless and powerful.

Those of you who have soaked in the beauty that is Erik Nilsson's 2015 release Hearing Things will know what a special album it is. For those fans and for the lucky few who get to hear it for the first time, we have some special for you. Nilsson has been hard at work remixing and remastering the original cuts, as he did with previous album Recollage, and it sounds glorious. Drawing on folk, classical and electronica, Erik Nilsson blends acoustic instruments with field recordings and computer-generated sounds, crafting music akin to early Four Tet, Tortoise at their most minimal, and fellow Scandinavian soundscapers The Gentleman Losers. His Hidden Shoal debut Hearing Things advances the compositional strategy Nilsson first explored on his acclaimed debut Recollage: simple rhythmic and melodic elements are manipulated and recontextualised into richly textured, emotive pieces.

Andain began as an experimental, electronica group in 2000. Singer/song-writer, Mavie Marcos, grew up performing in the theatre and studied classical voice in college. Her musical interests led her to play in acoustic bands until she moved to San Francisco in 1999.  During that time she met, and started writing an album with, producer Josh Gabriel (Gabriel &amp; Dresden) who had studied composition at the California Institute of The Arts and was then working as a burgeoning electronic music producer.

Andain’s first effort “Summer Calling” was released in 2002 by Black Hole Recordings for their renowned In Search Of Sunrise series. This launched the band’s name into instant celebrity in the dance world. “Beautiful Things,” their follow up single best known for the Gabriel &amp; Dresden Remix, soon after appeared with even greater success. The song has now become a dance classic, with YouTube views of over 20 million.

Despite the fact that Andain’s first full-length album was never officially released – many of the tracks still drew massive fan acclaim from leaked versions, and were licensed to network television.

Mavie and Josh continued to write together over the years. With the demands of Mavie’s publishing deal with Nettwerk and Josh’s ever increasing work as an award-winning DJ and producer, their second full-length album would have to wait. Much to their fans’ relief, Mavie and Josh decided to reform as a duo, and the resulting full-length record is due for release in 2012.

The first single off the album, “Promises,” was released on Black Hole Recordings in June 2011.  “Promises” has since then appeared on many compilations, and reached #13 in SiriusXM’s BPM Top 51 of 2011. The YouTube views of all “Promises” videos combined is over 1,5 million and counting. 

Says Mavie, “We blended natural acoustic sounds throughout the album with electronic percussive ones. We made sure to keep our musical sound pallet, made up of our drum kits and analog synth sounds, consistent throughout. We thought this would result in the most compelling and intricate album for the listener - something that is meant to be listened to, in its entirety, as a cohesive piece of music - not just a string of singles. ” The combination of Mavie’s classical and rock background with Josh’s never ending love of early 80’s new wave, mean they balance each other beautifully.

"Much Too Much" is the second single of the upcoming album, and it is accompanied with an amazing video produced by Xanada Entertainment and directed by Jamie Redford.

Andain will be touring in 2012 as Mavie and instrumentalist Shreddward Braillif; using vocals, live sampling and looping, drum kits, synthesizers, guitar, piano, and bass to create their live sound.
