Salvation IS IN HOLDING FAST TO THE SUNNAH

Imām Ahmad (رحمه الله) said:

The Foundations of Islam are found in 3 Hadīth:

1. Actions are judged by intentions (Hadith #1 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From the Chief of the Believers, Abī Hafṣ ʿUmar bin al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiyallāhu anhu) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam) saying:

"Verily actions are based upon the intentions (behind them) and every man shall have (in accordance) with what he intended. Thus, he whose migration was (for the sake of) Allāh and His Messenger, then his migration was indeed for Allāh and His Messenger. And he whose migration was to attain a portion of the world or to take some woman in marriage, then his migration was for that for which he migrated."

2. Whoever innovates into this affair of ours that which is not from it, then it is rejected (Hadith #5 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From the Mother of the Believers, Umm ʿAbd Allāh ʿĀʾishah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) who said:

The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) said, "Whoever introduces something into this affair of ours that is not from it will have it rejected." And in the narration of Muslim, "Whoever does an action that is not from our affair will have it rejected."

3. Halal is clear and Haram is clear (Hadith #6 from An-Nawawī's 40 Hadīth): 

From Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Nuʿmān bin Bashīr (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhumā) who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu alayhi wasallam) saying, "That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear and between the two are ambiguous matters which many people do not know of. So whoever took caution regarding the ambiguous matters has absolved himself regarding his religion and his honour. And whoever fell into the doubtful matters has fallen into the unlawful, just like the shepherd who grazes his flock around the sanctuary (of a king), all but grazing therein. Indeed, every king has a sanctuary (that cannot be violated) and indeed the sanctuary of Allāh is his prohibitions. Indeed, there is a morsel of flesh in the body which if it is sound the whole body is sound and which if itis corrupt the whole body is corrupt. Indeed, it is the heart."

 ⁃ The purpose of our lives is to sincerely worship Allah alone
       -   The meaning of Islam is to submit to Allah  alone with Tawheed and free yourselfwith shirk and its people 
 ⁃ ‘Surely the religion of Allah is Islam,
      -      It is the true religion that Allah is pleased with & he has chosen that for the servant’
 ⁃ The religion of Islam truly purifies the heart 
 ⁃ Allah is free from partners that are worshipped with him
 ⁃ Committing shirk corrupts the heart, soul, wealth and their property
 ⁃ Be firm upon islam & die upon it
 ⁃ Indeed Allah has favoured you with the true religion so do not die except in a state of submission 
 ⁃ The book of Allah has been sent down as clarification for everything, a guidance and as glad tidings for Muslims
 ⁃ It compiles of all good knowledge from that which has taken place, that which hasn’t occurred yet and the ruling of everything that is permissible and impermissible 
 ⁃ There is nothing left that brings you closer to jannah & be further away from the fire except that it has already been clarified to you
 ⁃ This knowledge would be carried throughout the generations by the trustworthy ones
