In the contemporary Muslim world the majority of Muslims annually celeberate the auspicious occasion of the Noble Birth of the Prophet Mohammed(S) and the minority wahabi-muslims consider it reprehensible in light of Islamic law. [The speaker in this speech demonstartes that for three hundred years Mawlid was celeberated communally without disagreement and only with the arrival of Ibn taymiyya (d. 728 AH) this practice was considered un-Islamic. This begs the question: what about the great imams before him who were a witness to these practices; why didnt anyone consider it unislamic before Ibn Taymiyya?]
