Returning to the musical undergrowth first explored by Desert Dwellers and acclaimed mycologist Paul Stamets in summer 2020 in partnership with documentary film Fantastic Fungi, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ collects the sounds of six producers from the global electronica scene to echo the message of connection and renewal driving Stamets’ celebrated work as one of the pioneers of mycology research and advocacy in the 21st century. 

A shapeshifting journey through the deep grooves, soothing basslines, and mesmerizing atmospheres of psychedelic music, the collection ignites the doors of perception with an array of imaginative remixes from producers Hibernation, Nanosphere, Equanimous & Skysia, and Desert Trax artists Gumi and Tylepathy to evoke a sense of interconnection between nature, civilization, and the vast network of beings and visionaries lining the corridors of Earth’s history. 

Hitting on the emotive peaks and valleys engrained in Desert Dwellers’ iconic sound and accented with re-imaginings designed for a full spectrum of sensory environments, ‘One Giant Consciousness’ is a glimpse behind the veil that teases more collaborative work to come from Desert Dwellers, Paul Stamets, and Desert Trax’s mushrooming roster of creators from the modern visionary realm.

Jaggernaut Whirling Dub is the ultimate transcendental trip to 'turn off, tune in' & enter the cosmic void. Suns of Arqa have materialised as a musical collective, combining the ancient Hindustani raga systems with Piobaireachd and Nyabinghi roots drumming. They appear intermittently at the seasonal festivals and sacred ritual spaces, where they are a vehicle for the positive raising of vibration, connecting with both the sensory and infinite worlds, for the on going evolution of all sentient beings.

'There is No Danger Here' is a hypnotic & heady mix, featuring the gifted Johar Ali from New Delhi on Violin, Angel Eye's soaring Vocals, while Wadada provides the apocalyptic chant to create a potent & intense collaboration. 

Taken from the epic & eclectic 'Shabda' album by Suns Of Arqa  and described as 'some of the most interesting dub/world/raga/reggae/dance music in the world'. This is a cosmic journey into sound or as Wadada concludes: 
'Before language became a formation of words, music was, and still is in other spheres, the means of communication between souls'.

In 1979 Suns of Arqa creator and mentor Michael Wadada set about recording the ground breaking Suns of Arqa album 'Revenge of the Mozabites' with his friend Adrian Sherwood. Together they formed the ‘4D Rhythm’ label – the world was not ready! Wadada retreated to the Pennine mountain range in Lancashire, Adrian Sherwood went on to create the formidable ‘On-U Sound’ label. Three years went by before a a very curious Peter Gabriel came across a rare copy of that first Suns of Arqa album; he was putting together the very first World of Music and Dance festival (WOMAD), and asked Suns of Arqa to come and perform. 

Revenge of the Mozabites is where it all started, this truly eclectic album of world-dub-east-west fusion from Suns of Arqa, ignited what would ultimately become the new World Dub Dance genre which has influenced & inspired so many artists today.

This beautiful and chilled out SUNS OF ARQA track is from 'Cosmic Jugalbandi' which features a sublime duet from Indian Classical music masters Pandit Raghunath Seth on Bansuri (Indian reed flute) and Ustad Johar Ali Khan on Violin. Produced in Paris, New Delhi and Manchester  by legendary  SUNS OF ARQA creator Michael Wadada, who also adds to the mix with his soothing dub heartbeat bass lines.

Here is a beautiful new tune which came into being quite spontaneously like a flash of noetic lightning in the wake of some beautifully serene experiences in Seattle and the Cascade mountains.

It was a lot of fun and a real honor to feature vocal contributions from my friends Theo and Amma (Entheo - https://soundcloud.com/entheo), as well as Theo's guitar and a few percussive samples from my friend Jules O'Keefe.

I haven't given out a new free track in a while, and I think this is a breakthrough and a new direction for me, so I am going out on a limb and allowing this tune to spread how it may, in good faith that it will touch as many lives as possible.
