This track has been in development for some time. Many more revisions to come as I iron out the mix and structure.

City of Gloom V. ( 5.5 )

This mix I started by focusing on making space for every sound. Then i added reverb to all the tracks that could stand to gain from it. I tweaked a rough edit and a more polished edit out of the eq and reverbs before this mix. I swapped out the edm kit and went for an 80's drum kit. I played around with the spacing of each track in the mix and added more seperation where I could. 

Musically, in this mix, i replaced almost all previous sounds and went for more of a post-edm, synthwave aound. I am most happy with the addition of the grand-piano and the synthesizer at the end. 

The new mix gave me a new way to hear this track, and also leaves me with many places to rework and get a stronger mix next time i comb through it to make it cleaner. Thank you for listening. 

Drawing Breath In A Synchronized Fashion V. ( 2.5 )

This track has been a longer writing process than some. I have had many versions before this mix, but this is the first mix I have made public. Initially, I spent much time on writing the chorus. I ended up making 7 different choruses before I found this one. I went for a classic synthwave sound that reminds me initally of a night at the arcade.   

With this mix I tried to get a good blend of the sounds that i use together to make one effect. I also seperated the drums and started to eq, and put reverb to them. I played around with the idea of making this song a slightly different structure with no second verse and going straight to the bridge and also adding a third act showstopper. At this time, i cant imagine changing it unless i feel the directional change is needed when putting down the vocals. 

I the next mix, I plan to make the drums more smoothly automated and blend together better. i plan to get a better edit on the cymbals and find a better blend for the synthesizers. I plan to add a piano or a guitar for the chorus mainly and a face-melting guitar solo at the end. With almost all of my track, I typically add vocals at the end of my mixing process. The vocals will come when it feels polished enough to add them.

Winter-Ball 1989 V. ( 8.5 )

The inspiration for this track comes from a book passage by the writer Zora Neil Huston, known as, "Their Eyes were Watching God" which I will share below. 

“Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the same horizon, never out of sight, never landing until the Watcher turns his eyes away in resignation, his dreams mocked to death by Time. That is the life of men.

Now, women forget all those things they don't want to remember, and remember everything they don't want to forget. The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly.”
― Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God

Ships at a Distance V. ( 2.5 )

This track was inspired by the famous writer known as Sylvia Plath from a passage titled "Fig tree" that is found in her novel "The Bell Jar". I'll share the passage here.

"I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet".

Many more revisions to this track coming soon. I have a couple new parts for this I am ironing out but this version is so much fun to jam to so I had to put it up for listening.
