I was in the UK last year after a massive summer of touring, caught the train down to Brighton with some friends, and ended up in an incredible studio overlooking the beach. I was missing home a bit, but feeling really inspired and wanted to write a feel-good record, reminding myself of the importance of saving time for the ones I care and love. Whilst (In the studio) overlooking the same site Fatboy Slim hosted his ‘Big Beach Boutique’, I was thinking about the UK’s dance music history, it inspired me, and decided to lean into the idea of writing something that sounds sampled, but isn't. I often like to write records completely on my own, but it feels so perfect to have written this one alongside some good pals — Clementine Douglas, Caitlin Stubbs & Toby Scott.

"I hesitated to share this at first, especially after the last-minute cancellation of the event. It was truly heartbreaking to witness an entire festival set up and ready to go, only to learn that it wouldn’t be happening that evening. Having attended many festivals, Esoteric has always stood out to me for its vibrant blend of art and culture. The festival cultivates a deep sense of community while showcasing awe-inspiring displays of visual art that are truly unique. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the organisers and volunteers who pour their hearts and souls into bringing this event to life. I can only imagine the immense stress and emotional turmoil that was experienced in trying to make Esoteric 2025 a reality. I’m genuinely sorry that it couldn’t come together in the end.

Despite the circumstances, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play my set. As I was first up on the decks, I still had the chance to play for the crew and volunteers at the Lagoon Stage. Creating dance music compilations has always been a passion of mine, and the opportunity to share them with others—whether live at a party or through a recorded mix at home—is always such a rewarding experience. The set I put together for Esoteric was something I really thought about, especially since it was the first of the festival. I wanted to make it exciting and full of surprises, mixing classic tracks we all know and love with a few unexpected twists, all while keeping the vibes upbeat and fun. I hope anyone who gives it a listen enjoys the ride and feels the same good energy and excitement I had putting it together."
