In the lead up to the release of my DJ Kicks on 16th June I'm giving away (one a week throughout May) the four tracks I've produced over the years that I'm most proud of - 'Mbira', 'Pause', 'Sequential Circus' & 3000AD. Last week was 'Pause', next up is 'Sequential Circus'. As the name suggests this record was made using the Sequential Circuits 6 trak synth. When I made and released this record it was in the middle of a 'minimal house' explosion and this track was a reaction to all the soulless bleepy shit that was being released at the time....'Sequential Circus' ended up becoming a Secret Sundaze favourite, with Giles Smith licensing it for his Secret Sundaze mix CD. Hot on the heels of his last outing for the Delsin house series comes this, another essential new offering from German producer Erdbeerschnitzel. The experienced producer has many skills in his arsenal and this new EP proves that once again. 

The title track 'The Ample Waters' is a joyous and lively concoction that fuses curious melodies with busy little piano stabs and more trilling, sunny melodies. It's busy house for bustling dancefloors and next up, 'Never Tilt' slows things down with jumbled, woody percussion falling over lazy drums and stretched, yawning synth smears. Colourful and effervescent, it's a track that makes you want to shake your limbs. 

'With Level Hopes' is again characterised by melodic colour, with pixelated patterns stretched over a funky, gooey bassline and clacking percussion. There's a beautifully DIY feel to the loosely assembled track that gives it a life all of its own before closer 'Yet Unfulfilled' pairs slo-mo beats with neo-soul vocal snippets, lazy and stoned summer chords. It's the most emotive of the lot, but all four tracks are truly feel good jams that have come just in time for some serious summer action.

Downtown Party Network already come with an excellent pedigree of disco licked tunes for quality imprints like Eskimo, Is It Balearic? Recordings and Dirt Crew. And so the debut appearance on Futureboogie seems like a most comfortable fit, with the ‘Disco Ball Drama’ extended player providing three shining examples of delicious grooves.

Title cut, ‘Disco Ball Drama’ cuts a familiar beat with a rolling and gritty acid-like arpeggio, the classy pads smoothing out the rougher edges and providing huge swashes of sunshine moments on this real mid-season winner.

‘Keep On Running’ on the flip side turns out a heads down, boogie-fest, with its elastic bassline, deep Rhodes chords and lively percussion doing the business here.

Closing the release is ‘No Drama Afterhours’, going down the cosmic alley for a slightly deeper cut. Spatial pads and looping syth arps gently collide over the swinging disco drums whilst the bass plays out an infectious melody, one for the ‘afterhours’ indeed.

This guy is no stranger to the underground world of dance music, 
having previously released on labels such as Desolat and Noir. 
Den Ishu appeared in collaboration with Superlounge a few months 
back on Supernature with the excellent ‘Get Back’ EP. 
This time he presents us with a real cut above the rest and a break 
from his previous trademark sounds. 

"High U Gonna Feel" is the Jewel in the crown here. Slow in pace but 
very chunky in nature, Den works the vocal sample and strings in a 
way that makes this track instantly recognisable. 
"Your Experience" is no less engaging, and thanks to his cleverly 
programmed bassline it becomes an absolute winner. 
Finally, "Say The Word" proves that Den is no one trick pony, he can 
shuffle around the tempos and melodies very easily. 
Avatism (Dumb Unit, Souvenir) provides a very different interpretation 
of "High U Gonna Feel" which will surely please those who like it deep. 
We are very excited about this EP and having tested it extensively on the 
road over the last few weeks we are finally ready to present it to you.
