I'm excited to be on this show and want to tell you a bit of a background story about how I got to mixing sets like this and how I was inspired by Zoon's music.

Back in 2006 - 2007 "oldskool" Goa parties were booming in Belgium and the Schlabbaduerst compilations had received a cult status. I can still remember the people talking on and after the parties about "those monochromatic CDs with a style you have never heard before". Up until then I was mainly dj'ing "night Fullon" as a young enthousiast, but I quickly got sucked into the '90s style and especially the rougher, harder, more night time oriented tracks I heard other DJs play. Tracks by Hux Flux, Toï Doï, UX, Battle of the Future Buddhas, Ka-Sol... were rocking the dancefloor and I started digging for similar music. I remember one of my first Goa / Forest sets in the forests of Wachtebeke around 2008 where the dancefloor had grown to a multitude of what was to be expected there, having thé green CD in my hand and selecting Jungle Box by Zoon. I saw the dancefloor go nuts. Since then I have been DJ'ing on somewhat of a monthly basis and tracks within this genre have been my go-to picks. The classic '90s Goa style (and all the artists that are making music inspired by it) I still hold as dear to my heart as I did before and I still love playing these tracks just as much, next to Suomisaundi and "modern" Forest Trance.

But I'm first and foremost a collector. Next to buying old and new physical releases I discovered there was a whole community of people collecting music that was only spread out online or remained unreleased. My sets will always have a portion of each of these sources in it. I want to thank everybody that helped preserve this old music, the artists that I got into contact with and who trusted me to play their tracks on the dancefloor, the people who trusted me to be behind the decks and especially each and every person that holds the scene dear to its heart and is supportive in any way. Also Ward (DJ Inada) from Cronomi Records for being a big inspiration. Joining Cronomi in 2012 opened the world of Psytrance even more to me. I met a lot of great people this way and can listen to the music people are sending in. 

During my DJ'ing trip I sometimes met David, Christer and Jens behind the decks. I was welcome to join Schlabbaduerst ReKkords in 2021 and I'm ever so grateful for it.  These guys are just breathing out awesome music, be sure to catch their next live sets, even if you've heard them before.  In my sets I can give previews of tracks that are in the pipeline and let you hear what they made a longer time ago. Another common thread throughout my journey was my contact with Yani. Preparing our DJ sets together made me think outside the box, his DJ sets inspired me and he's been a fellow collector for the longest time. In 2018 I met Christopher Zoon a couple of times in Belgium and we started chatting afterwards, exchanging thoughts and music. I find his music to be very distinct. Mossy melodies that are often melancholic, paired in a unique way with varied energetic stomping basslines. In every set I play I can fit at least one of his tracks, but making a "Zoon-like" set on its own has proven to be quite a challenge. Thankfully the "Forest" genre has become so diverse and there's more and more people making awesome music to choose from. I want to let you hear tracks of a few of my favorite active projects like Weird Wizard, Dragon Twins, Jagoa, Nirmanakayas... next to the Schlabb artists and older hidden gems. Deep 90s Trance quickly going into sunny, trippy and edgy Goa Trance. With a sidestep into Suomi territory and a lot of Cronomi-action. This is the result of a lot of nights of puzzling and writing down lists. I hope you'll enjoy the tracks and story! :)

On Saturday 02/09/2023 I opened the Psytrance stage on Space Safari at 10 AM with this set after 4 hours of silence on that floor. Playing on this festival was a dream come true. Blue Planet Corporation played after me and decided to play his first track on top of my last to keep the music going. A moment I will never forget! :-)

GOA O'Clock: 6-Hour and 04-Minute Odyssey - Binaryman

The year 2023 was truly an exciting, eventful, and intense year. To conclude the year and propel the next one forward, I prepared a set for my favorite  team (Goa'T) for their New Year's Eve event, in which I told my story through multiple genres. Goa'T Psy New Year's Eve Party 23/24

DICA & Antidot are 2 French newcomers in the psychedelic scene. In the acid techno scene their name is already huge, but after a visit to Ozora and ZNA they decided to make a psychedelic project as well. Be a bit open minded because its the perfect mashup between goa-trance, acid, acid-trance and even a small pinch of modern psy-trance in between! What made their performance even more impressive was the the fact the set was played from analog live machines! :) For sure you will hear more within our scene of these 2 talents in the future! :)

Well, then you know the spirit of Suntrip Records! Suntrip is a half French, half Belgian record label, releasing Goa trance and melodic Psychedelic trance. Suntrip Records was set up in the summer of 2004 by Fabien "Mars" Marsaud, one of the founders of the Psynews.org website and Joske "Anoebis" Vranken, a famous Belgian DJ and party-organiser. They met for the first time in 2000, for a party gathering members of Psynews.org, then met regularly, sharing the same love for melodic Goa trance. Both of them now live in Belgium. Since 2004 they are working together to promote goa-trance as much as possible via CD-releases, parties, radio shows,... :)
