I wrote Jubilee while climbing out of a deep, mental trench as I had recently went through a fall out with my band (Hurt Everybody) and was losing/pushing people away who were very, very important to me. My brothers, our acquaintances, my girlfriend and even my own family.
It's a song explaining what it feels like to be able to watch yourself grow and develop in real time.
It's a song about liberating myself through forgiveness & living out this extraordinary year of Jubilee in a way that's healthier for me.
It's a song about struggling with the idea of letting my partner go and continuing life without her after a very intense, six year bond.
This is the year of the "Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy" as declared by Pope Francis, and although I'm not a religious man, I'm familiar with the bible & have always been fascinated with the concept of the Jubilee because of its themes of liberation & forgiveness because those two aspects of human nature are imperative to growth, which I'm dedicating myself to. During Jubilee "slaves and prisoners would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the mercies of God would be particularly manifest" which is what I feel happening inside of me, right now.
