Born out of the ashes of Darkwood Dub, one of the Balkans’ most revered alternative rock bands during the ‘90s/’00s, Bella Technika is the latest project of Bojan Drobac, the group’s guitarist and main songwriter. Joined by former bandmate bass player Milorad Ristić as well as opera singer Katarina Jovanovic, amongst others, Bojan has found a new direction with Bella Technika.

Bella Technika join forces with Super Weird Substance for Substance Select Vol.2, which features three remixes and an original production from the band’s debut ‘Section’ LP, released last year.

A1) Continuing their prolific form, Greg Wilson and Ché Wilson provide the first remix, taking album opener ‘Reinvented Daily’ into psychedelic territory with vocoder and dub fx.

A2) Lee Perry AKA Peza provides the second mix, a jacking, acid fuelled reimagining of ‘I Feel Light’ - alongside Sara Lucas’ primal vocal it evokes the halcyon days of house music.

AA1) Up next, Henry Greenwood provides a wonky, idiosyncratic version of ‘Heat Control’, slicing the hypnotically repeated vocals in and out of his chugging psychedisco groove.

AA2) The EP finishes up with the original fully titled ‘Suddenly I Feel So Light’, exhibiting the live band / electronic fusion that established their reputation across Europe.

This second opus takes us on a journey through time and style, from jazz-funk to dance music and Afrobeat, invoking masters such as Caetano Veloso, Giorgio Moroder or Tony Allen.
"This idea of "Samba From Outer Space" comes from dance music being a universal language beyond electronic but mainly a form of gathering people together in the same frequency." says Diogo. We could summarize everything in "Electronic dance music is nothing but samba from outer space"

Faze Action return with a brand new 12", teaming up with Zimbabwean born Zeke Manyika to create "Mangwana". Sung in Zeke's native Shona, and taking influences from Mory Kante, South African Kwaito to early house, Faze Action manage to create a record that harks back yet still has a modern and contemporary feel and is set to be the soundtrack to countless festivals and outdoor parties this summer.

The title track is followed by the stunning "Chiiko", featuring Zeke's vocals enriched by Rob's 'cello's with African rhythms floating you away to another tropical world. A multi-media label founded by DJ Greg Wilson, Super Weird Substance deals primarily with balearicpsychedelicdubdisco recordings whilst, on the live side, hosting sixties-styled ‘Happenings’ that include talks, art, bands and DJs.

Announcing its presence at the beginning of summer in 2014 – via the good vibes life-affirming mixtape ‘Blind Arcade Meets Super Weird Substance In The Morphogenetic Field’ – the label took five Super Weird Happenings across the country, whilst releasing a series of new recordings on vinyl, the next year. Eight singles were released between June and October, followed by a CD compilation, bringing together all of the singles as well as alternate versions and a special Greg Wilson mix.

Building on the success of a memorable Festival No.6 showcase in Portmeirion in 2015, Super Weird Substance returned in April 2017 with their most ambitious event to date, the 14 Hour Super Weird Happening at The Florrie. Prior to that Super Weird Substance collaborated with the man who bestowed their name, teaming up with Alan Moore and his Mandrillifesto project, Super Weird Substance created their second mixtape, ‘Alan Moore’s Mandrill Meets Super Weird Substance At The Arts Lab Apocalypse’, taking his acute social commentary and reinventing it within their own joyous sonic realm.

In 2018, the label returned to music with digital single, Gone With The Vibe and the first Substance Select EP. 2019 saw a new, younger energy introduced to the label, bringing with it new sounds, set to be unleashed in 2020, alongside Substance Select Vol.2, releasing Bella Technika remixes on vinyl.
