Recorded at a trio of events in April 2023, in support of my book, Discotheque Archives, this mix is an amalgamation of these three nights – Sidney&Matilda in Sheffield (1st), Golden Lion Todmorden  (7th) and World Headquarters in Newcastle (8th). I had issues with my recording device throughout the weekend, but managed to capture enough to be able to patch between them, resulting in close on three hours of music highlighted within the pages of the book – all original versions, rather than edits/reworks.

The mix features 33 tracks, which span the years 1963-1983 and is packed with classics and cult-classics, providing a snapshot of dance music, in its many facets, during the pre-rave decades..

DISCOTHEQUE ARCHIVES ON THE ROAD - APRIL 2023 (greg wilson live mix)

The next release, scheduled for December 12, 2024, is the EP Sentir Bonito, born from a collaboration between Paula Garcés, a Colombian techno DJ, actress, and singer based in Bogotá, and the Swiss producers Titoffee and Aston Alba, both from the Valais region.

The song speaks about feeling good and protected in the arms of someone you love, wrapped in harmony.

Four remixes complete this winter release, featuring the mystic electronica of Leeu from South Africa, the deep house sounds of French producer Max TenRom, and the Latin bass from DJ Raff in Chile, Atarrayo in Colombia, and Aüka in Argentina.

The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu made their return in Liverpool and proved they're just as visionary and unpredictable as ever. 23 years on from burning a million quid on the Scottish Isle of Jura, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty took 400 'volunteers' on a journey through a series of bewildering and highly exciting 'situations', adding to their already heady mythos with their '2023' trilogy before unveiling their most ambitious project yet; The People's Pyramid.

Following the success of the Return To Legend night at The Refuge in Manchester, a second night was quickly arranged for those unable to get tickets for the first. Once again I feature music from my time at Legend in the early '80s, both original tracks and re-edited variants.

In recent years Late Nite Tuff Guy has stood out as one of the best DJ / Producers in the re-edit game. His productions and live sets are loved by DJs, musicheads, ravers and people who just want to have fun.

LNTG headlined the Rabbit Hole's Funkingham Palace on the Thursday night of Glastonbury 2019, setting the tone for a long weekend of musical bliss.

That day he played hours and hours of Prince tracks at The Spike, then made his way up to the Rabbit Hole to close the night after excellent sets from the FP Footmen, Flying Mojito Bros and Algy Strutt.

The next night LNTG played after Fatboy Slim on the Glade Stage in front of thousands, a career highlight for a man on the top of his game.

2022NQ MANCHESTER NYE 31.12.12 (greg wilson live mix)

A multi-media label founded by DJ Greg Wilson, Super Weird Substance deals primarily with balearicpsychedelicdubdisco recordings whilst, on the live side, hosting sixties-styled ‘Happenings’ that include talks, art, bands and DJs.

Announcing its presence at the beginning of summer in 2014 – via the good vibes life-affirming mixtape ‘Blind Arcade Meets Super Weird Substance In The Morphogenetic Field’ – the label took five Super Weird Happenings across the country, whilst releasing a series of new recordings on vinyl, the next year. Eight singles were released between June and October, followed by a CD compilation, bringing together all of the singles as well as alternate versions and a special Greg Wilson mix.

Building on the success of a memorable Festival No.6 showcase in Portmeirion in 2015, Super Weird Substance returned in April 2017 with their most ambitious event to date, the 14 Hour Super Weird Happening at The Florrie. Prior to that Super Weird Substance collaborated with the man who bestowed their name, teaming up with Alan Moore and his Mandrillifesto project, Super Weird Substance created their second mixtape, ‘Alan Moore’s Mandrill Meets Super Weird Substance At The Arts Lab Apocalypse’, taking his acute social commentary and reinventing it within their own joyous sonic realm.

In 2018, the label returned to music with digital single, Gone With The Vibe and the first Substance Select EP. 2019 saw a new, younger energy introduced to the label, bringing with it new sounds, set to be unleashed in 2020, alongside Substance Select Vol.2, releasing Bella Technika remixes on vinyl.
