Phortah shares again his unique, rich and emotive sound, this time on Earthly Measures. Sadaken exhibits further refinement of his familiar melancholic tonality blended with subtle, textural atmospheric elements. These five tracks are pulsing grooves that get heads bopping and hips writhing, in a very unique & intimate way.

Phortah’s vocal improvisations are being cultivated and shows up across Sadaken. Phortah says of its effects "it creates that not-quite-human sound which connects with where I feel a lot of us are at: super digitised organisms, yearning for a way back to our earthly nature”.

That image captures Phortah’s sound and journey well: a repressed, visceral, animal nature reemerging to reclaim its place in an increasingly abstract, digital, binary, landscape.

This was one of the most difficult sets I ever played, it was 40 degrees (I had to put my computer in a fridge before playing LITERALLY!!), the sun pointing directly into The Reactor, the sandstorms were so hard that I couldn't even see what was happening around me, and other tough stuff I can't remember now.... But this created the perfect ravy sexy sand storm I was looking for. It was a longer set, but unfortunately the conditions and some technical difficulties just let us record this, but I'm sure is quite enough to share the moment with you.

In my ribs you will see the logo of my camp (Cirque du Shlapy) that was pretty much what made it possible for me to go to Midburn, otherwise I wouldn't have a place to sleep haha but for real it was possible thanks to all their love, inspiration and support.

ABOUT Mia Kaltes:

“Making people dance and offering them a place to escape to, is what makes me tick,” says Mia. For her, openness of mind represents adapting her music to each different moment so she never limits herself to only one kind of music.

Since 2004, Mia Kaltes, a Swiss-Italian who lives in Biel/Bienne, has been mixing in different clubs and alternative places in Switzerland, Prague, Italy, Russia, and Germany. She is a DJ and producer for the label FINEFOOD RECORDS. In February 2017, she and her friend, Abused Disco, released the album "Papillon", composed of two tracks (Techno / Tech House) under the Swiss label: THE LIMBIIC SYSTEM RECORDS. She tries to play vinyl whenever possible but she also went digital, and plays on 4 track Traktor using two MIDI controllers.

I don't know how to start since that moment was truly magical and I could talk about it for ages. It was the perfect end of that already incredible week, but playing in front of that big crowd (my biggest for sure) , connect with them, see all these smiles and energy, and get all this love was unique. I couldn't ask for more. So a BIG thank you to @Arkology crew for making this happened and offering me that insane slot. And a big thank you to every one present <3
Starting hard since it was 3am on the last night and the DJ before me was playing techno, then I tried to take the crowd where I thought it was the best and what I love to play.
Hope you'll enjoy and that it can take you back there, for me it is a lifelong memory !
