Jon is a good friend of mine and recently asked if I could help him record a few songs that he'd written. We set up his microphone in my room, ran his acoustic guitar through my interface and recorded these songs. It was my first time recording anyone besides myself. I'm quite happy with how the tracks came out, especially because prior to doing this I had absolutely no clue when it came to mixing/EQ'ing. Fortunately with a little help from Ermin Hamidovic's Systematic Production's Guide To Mixing, I was able to do a pretty good job. I was also really surprised at how clean the vocal track sounds for being recorded in my un-treated average-joe room.

I used a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 as the interface, Lecab IR plugin and Godscab impulse responses and Le Poulin's Le456 for the DI signal. There mic picked up the acoustic guitar as well, which is mixed in with the DI. I used a small amount of reverb and tape saturation on the vocals as well.
