French Love Affair

French producer Armless Kid is set to have his biggest year to date in 2017, playing key international gigs and reaching a global audience with his productions thanks to a helping hand from his friends at Classic. A young self-taught artist who has been working the Paris house circuit for a little while with collectives like Copie Blanche, Xavier aka Armless Kid is right at home on Classic with his inventive "anything goes" approach to producing. Over just three tracks on ͚Jado Jador EP he covers synth-enhanced jacking grooves (in opener Loubar' Stars) featuring the diva tones of Queen Rose, heady BPM-cranked wildness on "BDX Biches Gang", finally finding a glorious middle ground with heavyweight syncopated beats and tight chords on "Road To Grand Champ". It's a real trip.

"Waze & Odyssey are an act who need no introduction, as they currently reside among one of the most talked electronic acts on the musical landscape. Their vinyl label W&O Street Tracks has been consistently topping the Juno sales charts with friends and acts like Ejeca & Citizen contributing to the release schedule, not to mention a busy release schedule with labels like Wolf Music, Throne of Blood and Mad Tech. The duo have pulled off remixes for Duke Dumont, Compuphonic and Citizen and we're pleased to announce that Dirt Crew Recordings will be releasing two original dance floor burners by the guys. But we wouldn’t be Dirt Crew if we did not inject this release with a great remix as well. None other than our own Detroit Swindle boys are on duties here. Comeback of the group that helped to explode the french touch with its irreversible soul-garage chorus sung by Ron Carroll, Lucky Star is THE dancefloor hit of the year 2000. 

Behind this hit that sold 900,000 copies (200,000 for the Hold-Up album signed by Virgin): three southerners, Fafa Monteco, Stephane B and Mike 303 who have been fed by the culture of free radio and hip hop and finally the rave party scene, many musical cultures that constitute the identity of the Superfunk sound .Lucky Star ,internationally acclaimed French house track that symbolizes the French sound in the minds of the general public but then the wave fell leaving Daft Punk as the only ambassadors of the French touch . 

Following this phenomenal success, the band separated : while Stephane B and Mike 303 continued the adventure with other musicians, Fafa left the group in 2005 to pursue a solo career.

Fueled by the rebirth of Black Jack Records, a label that was inactive since the mid-2000s, on which the trio of producers had delivered their first EP, Superfunk resurfaced. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Black Jack returns with new collaborations and new artists: a bridge is recreated between the teachers of Chicago and the leaders of this sound made in France, past successes and new tracks to come with of Paul Johnson, K-Alexis Shelby and the emergence of a new generation of artists like EEEDIOT or Vantage. With Chinatown, it’s new track for BlackJack, Superfunk revisits the synths by Giorgio Moroder and the eternal vibrations of disco with an undisguised jubilation. It is above all the musical imprint of the group that resurfaces: a sound that is sought after but accessible, immediately identifiable while appealing to the musical culture of the listener. Very quickly, the feedbacks were excellent, the track was played on Radio FG, the reference in France on this type of sound. And naturally, new tracks and collaborations are coming : I Like It with Mercer who was a Superfunk fan and rightfully considers the group has a legend. ... 
Superfunk is the come-back-event of an acclaimed sound for music lovers of all ages!
