i feel a shift taking place currently, where we're all still in flux and the resolution remains just out of reach. for me, in my life and for many others, this shift has manifested as the symbol of the phoenix. while a beautiful time of opportunity, the shift is taking its toll on many of us. personally, i've felt an unease as i feel my former self burning away yet am still unaware of anything defined for me to graduate into. i'm only left to trust, and so i offer this set up to all of us in hopes of it communicating something similar. letting us know we are not alone.

based off what i played for a birthday thrown in an abandoned firehouse. people often ask about the intro: it's off a cari lekebusch record sampled from boogie nights. i liked giving my demo's a bit of flare by sampling in various stuff back in these days. for this particular mix, i brought the sample back at the very end too, lol.

i've had a passion for curating audio ever since i learned that pausing a tape cassette while recording on my boombox allowed for more control over how and when the next piece took over. i transitioned from recorded mix tapes to live blends on air for my college's radio station. in the mid 90s, beat matching live sets in DC's club scene lead to appearances up and down the east coast. after a year's residency in nyc, i relocated to san francisco's warehouse collectives. having put down roots in the bay area, i continue to play across north america.
