'Seven Years Week' is the debut full-length album from Hanssen, the solo alias of Seattle electronic producer Bob Hansen. Active in the Pacific Northwest music community for nearly two decades, Bob initially applied his sharp production talents, hypnotic rhythms, and goofball sense of humor as one-half of beloved duo Jacob London, blazing a trail on funky, underground dancefloors worldwide with a steady string of hotly-tipped 12” releases throughout the 2000s. While Jacob London reveled in fresh, playful tech-house, Hanssen’s initial solo offerings embraced a more textured and exploratory sound on EPs for the Complot, Innerflight, and Pleasure Boat labels. 

Now emerging with his first full-length offering, Hanssen’s most fully realized sonic work nearly ditches the dancefloor entirely in favor of an unpredictable and thrilling foray into cinematic leftfield soundscapes soaked in dreamy nostalgic synths, spacious off-kilter rhythms, and celestial visions. Elements of ambient, R&B, kosmiche, downtempo, New Age, and drone bubble to the surface. Yet, much like its namesake, 'Seven Years Week' takes these familiar styles and creates its own unique world, absorbing the listener into its beautiful, blissful space-time continuum.

there was this track, icct hedral and another tht i wrote after coming down off microdots, i was off my face walking around london and i just wanted to hear these tracks so bad and had the cassette in my pocket,the player i had just died and i just walked into a shop and bought this walkman with the last money I had, was really tweaking , they were fuckin expensive but it was sooooo worth it.. no decent food for a few weeks but sony pro walkman in the bag!

Yes Steve Reich vibes 4 sure, was very interesting meeting him a couple of years ago, he REALLY wanted to release my Pendulum array re-work which was a huge compliment on nonsuch but i never got around to sorting it out...
Had an initial super good long conversation with him in Poland,
 picked each others brains and kind of forget where we were..still got lots of things buzzing around inside my head from it..but then we said our goodbyes thinking we would probably never meet each other again but was really funny/odd because  my girlfriend and I just KEPT bumping into him, party in a polish bar, around the festival, the airport lounge, transport bus, on the plane in the arrival lounge, it got really embarrasing, by the end I was like look im fucking sick of seeing your face mate! [ jokingly ]

 This is a real summer package here from another planet. Apart from the gorgeous Detroit influenced original we have a remix from Sandy Rivera protégé Simon Mattson (Defected/Strictly Rhythm). This mix was already selected for Funkagenda's latest mix compilation even before release so don't sleep on it. Darran Nugent & Pavel Lenchenko follow up their recent remix of Aldo Cadiz's 'Tengo C' and the 'How Can I' EP on Berlin's Mood Music with another stomping re-envisioning. Kirby has been a regular contributor on Elevation over the years and his classic remix of 'Mercury Blues' is still a huge fave. Here he drops a very cool spaced out version sure to keep fans of his releases on labels like Kolour and Lost My Dog happy. Italy's rising stars Metrica (Mood Music/Apparel/Viva) warp the original into a subtle but irresistible groover for the late night parties. Finally Joel Brittain (Tango/Wrong) takes us on a bit of classic house journey with a complex (but not overly so) rendition that naggs to be danced to.

Sonar Kollektiv - 15 Years Of Volxmusik 

You’ll always find a reason to party if you will. Sonar Kollektiv’s 15th anniversary is more than just another invitation to let one’s hair down though.

Sonar Kollektiv was founded in 1997 by Jazzanova. Designed as a platform for own releases it soon attracted numerous new discoveries and like-minded musicians to lead their trumps right here. Still it was never the intention of Sonar Kollektiv to pursue one specific sound or provide an already existing scene. Each and every release on the label (250 and counting) was at all times meant to illustrate the musical taste of the collective, its flavourful development and recollection of past sounds. The various compilations and label showcases played a big part of it. From the renowed „Secret Love“ compilation (No. 6 has been released in October 2012), the „Computer Incarnations For World Peace“ edition, the „...Boadcasting“ and „....Mixing“-series to the „Romanian Jazz“ label showcase Sonar Kollektiv continuously cares about broadening its own and the horizon of any type of music lovers. How broad this horizon can be expanded showed the release of Âme’s „Rej“ in 2005. Shorthandly minimal techno was redifined and at the same time the sublabel Innervisions (runned by Dixon) was leveraged to worldwide fame. Other milestones in the eventful history of Sonar Kolletiv were the discovery of the New Zealand reggae soul combo Fat Freddy’s Drop (2005), the debuts by Micatone (2003), Benny Sings (2005), Clara Hill (2003) and Eva Be (2004), the first releases by Dimlite (2003), Tricksi (2006), Christian Prommer’s Drumlesson (2007), as well as Georg Levin (2005) and his collaborative project with Dixon, Wahoo (2004). Also for some of today’s legends of more sophisticated electronic music, like Ulrich Schnauss, Ben Klock and Marcin Kozlowski (now a member of Whitest Boy Alive) Sonar Kollektiv offered a stepping stone to their international careers. And in 2003 a certain Eric Wahlforss released his first record here, just before founding Soundcloud.

When at the end of 2009 the rate of fire ceased some thought the label is running on empty or lost touch to contemporary sounds. But the releases of this year so far should prove doubters wrong. The remix album „Jazzanova Upside Down“ (released in January) gathers the who’s who of the currenty most happening and game-changing DJs and producers (Henrik Schwarz, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Filippo Moscatello, Manuel Tur, Mark E, and more) to catapult Jazzanova classics into the future. By signing Phil Gerus from Moscow, the new project Hot Coins out of the UK, EnaWadan from South Africa and the pan-Geman duo Paskal & Urban Absolutes four of the most promising new acts slantingly offside the dancefloor have been added to the already impressive roster. And once again all true pop aficionados with an addiction for soul and a genuine craft in songwriting are pierced to the heart with the brand new albums by FETSUM („The Colors Of Hope“) and Micatone („Wish I Was Here“).

But what is the formula of success of the Berlin based label? A dance music imprint that – with a few exceptions – actually doesn’t release club music? Is it even after all exactly this? Delievering music for prior to, succeeding and one day after a club night?

There’s no other German record label that can boast such an adventurous range of styles: reggae, folk, electronica, jazz, funk, calypso, house, techno and now also chillwave, dubstep, dream pop, and so on. At Sonar Kollektiv there’s somehow room for everything. Still, all of the 250 and counting releases have one common denominator: It’s music made out of passion - without any financial aim or attemps of ingratiation. From and for music lovers.

Dubai's Audio Tonic Records starts 2013 with 'Wonderland' by Spin Science, backed with a remix from Tom Middleton. 
 
Audio Tonic Records have had a stellar 2012 with remixes and original material coming from the likes of The Revenge, Vincenzo, Ian Pooley, Jimpster and Florian Kruse. The prospect of what's to come in 2013 is an exciting one as the imprint continues to provide excellence through its musical output, radio show and events at Dubai's infamous 360° Club. Ülar Aasmäe aka Spin Science is an Estonian producer most notably known for his work with the likes of Urban Torque, Plastic City, Global Underground and Proton Music and here he joins the Audio Tonic roster. 
 
The original version of 'Wonderland' opens the release, a shuffling house track with a classic feel. Weighty off-kilter drums lead the way alongside deep hi-strings, a gritty, hooky electronic bass and smooth Rhodes licks. Aasmäe turns in a raw, deep house cut that's indicative of why he's grabbed the attention of some of electronic music's pioneering labels, 'Wonderland' is tasteful and direct. 
 
Next up is Tom Middleton's 'Liquatech Mix' of 'Wonderland', The British producer who has been heavily involved in the Acid House movement over the years and worked with Josh Wink's Ovum, delivers melodic, groove-led house music. Employing swirling synth lines, sporadic filter automation and a rumbling low-end movement to create sonorous house full of warm depths and intensities. 
 
This is a killer package to kick-start the year for Audio Tonic Records, Spin Science' 'Wonderland' is out on 14th January 2013.

Producer/multi-instrumentalist Stefan "Merse" Ulrich and singer/songwriter Neve aka Alexa Voss are Neve Naive. And with "The Inner Peace Of Cat And Bird" they just released on Sonar Kollektiv one of the most astonishing debut albums of the year.

The first single off the album, “Dancer”, is now being released with three remixes – each of them as particular as inspiring. On the A side you get the one by Superluminal. After the three guys from Warsaw, Fabian, Greg and Cbass, have provided their typical funky sound to the remix of Jazzanova's “I Human” last year, they were eventually first choice for a rework of “Dancer”. The track now even more makes you get a move on and grooves thanks to a fresh rhythm guitar and added percussion right across the dance floor with a big feisty grin.

Paskal & Urban Absolutes also want to squeeze the funk out of the track. As you know funk appears in different shapes and forms though. The one by the remixing duo of the hour comes in much more sec and impulsive. The arrangement has been totally disposed as well – everything pointing towards 5 o'clock in the morning, the time when sweat and tears of joy start to blend.

The third remixer isn't a new name in Sonar Kollektiv's stable as well. Moscow based Phil Gerus belongs, next to Paskal & Urban Absolutes, to the uprising shooting stars of the label. He owes less to the dance floor than to the things that happen afterwards, after a long night out. His remix of “Dancer” displays again impressively why he is one of the leading spearheads of chillwave. The original is put through the mill so drastically that in the end only the essence of it is left over. And in a medicative way or so this just feels so damn good.

Superluminal is a collaboration of three independent Polish artists – Fabian and Greg (nhood) and the Dj/Producer Cbass.
Nhood is an acknowledged duo, which has been producing electronic for almost 10 years now.
Cbass on the other hand has been previously known as Cbass &amp; Mikobene and de Giraffe and has a history of collaboration with artists such as: Milton Jackson, Soul Minority, James Teej, Djuma Soundsystem, Pablo Bolivar, Subsky, Nikola Gala, Tomato Jaws and many many more.
It wasn’t until the middle of 2010, when experience and talent of the both synergised to create quality of sound which they were all searching for: deep, organic, spacious and most importantly – dance-floor oriented.
