A composer by training and trade, Justin Marchacos dwells on how music captures ideas, concepts, moods, spaces. Whether the headspace of a character in a feature film or the messaging of a major brand, his music must convey emotion to heighten, or even substitute for, any exposition. And it's that same mindset he brings to producing dance music, the mood he wants to project, often based on a mood he enjoyed and seeks to capture. We're very excited to welcome Justin on the label!

For a little more than a decade the notorious duo known as Kotelett & Zadak has been making waves on the electronic club music scene with releases on Hi Freaks, Exploited Ghetto and Poker Flat Recordings amongst many others. So it was just a question of time until the two would touch down on Upon.You Records as well, ready to add some excellent bangers to the labels 2k19 catalogue.

The title track „Sapiens" exactly shows why Kotelett & Zadak have turned into a successful and in demand production force over many years, grabbing punters' attention immediately with a spacial, hypnotic TechHouse attitude and a subtle, yet captivating and well trippy synth melody as a main motif that won't leave your brains ever again.

With „Lord Buchla" we see Kotelett & Zadak paying homage to one of the most remarkable and well known creators of modular synthesis machines, once again bringing forth a spatial, stripped down and reverberating TechHouse vibe garnished with ever morphing, precisely shaped modulations, fever'ish breakdowns and ghostly, evolving sounds floating through a sonic realm best to be described as Intelligent Techno for a dedicated crowd of underground music lovers.

On remix duties for the title track „Sapiens" is Echonomist, a seasoned craftsman of the Greek club music scene. His variation takes the original cut to a whole new level, introducing a deep, brooding vibe, busy synth bleeps and an epic, slightly oriental main motif to this rework which defo deserves an exposed spot in every peaktime set over the course of the next year orr beyond.

Finally the 'Echonomist & Marco Resmann Remix Dub' of „Sapiens" keeps well up with the spatial, hypnotic vibe of this whole EP, presenting large scale build ups, busy hi-hat and shaker arrangements as well as a phenomal mid-range motif perfectly aligned with the deep, mystical undertone of the tune, bringing forth a further variation for the darkest hours of the night.

Exclusive Shall Ocin 'Boreal'

Run by Terr, Daniel Watts and Shall Ocin, Clash Lion Records is about to ready the next EP. 'Stay Here' is the latest work from co-label founder Shall Ocin and includes - aside from the EP's title track - a second take that goes by the name of 'Boreal', meaning northern or cold-moderate with reference to the boreal zone, which is located in the northern hemisphere. Crystal clear yet pleasant synth-chords combined with a lush bass line mark 'Boreal's' start before the chords' tonality is boosted in the course of the track to rise the tension moderately. The synth-sounds are then interrupted by a creaking second synth-sound which marks the track's peak. From then on 'Boreal' takes on the 'mild' melodic elements which the listener was introduced to in the first part of the track and lets one easily finish the walk through the northern hemisphere.

Shall Ocin's EP 'Stay Here' will be released on Clash Lion March 18th, 2019.

Miyagi shines bright across a trio of new tracks for Supernature.  The ‘Yoko My Yoko’ single finds the popular DJ/producer hit the sweet spot, with well produced and accomplished sounds on offer.  With previous releases for labels such as Einmusika, Katermukke and his very own Lost Diaries label, Miyagi has been on the Supernature radar for some time. 

Breezy percussion and enthralling melodies are at the center of title track “Yoko My Yoko”, as Miyagi builds the atmosphere expertly with layers of tones and gritty bass.  “No Place Like X” deploys supple harmonies over hand percussive lead rhythms, its half-time breakdown adding to the drama, whilst “A Kyoto Night” keeps with the themes, offering up a more distinctly reflective and deeper piece.

“Yoko My Yoko” by Miyagi is released on Audiofly’s Supernature imprint from 22nd March 2019.

Denis Horvat returns to Afterlife Recordings for a second EP of distinctive, dancefloor productions.

A year after ‘Modelo’ comes ‘Miracle Of The Rose’, an evocative and authentic development of Horvat’s sound. On ‘Noise’, the vocals of Lelah give way to a stripped-down, reverberant groove. The title track rises with a free-flowing melody before dropping a tough, angular beat. ‘Divin’ is the EP’s deepest cut, before digital only track ‘Royale’ rounds off this diverse release with flair.
