These are just a few accounts from the bewildered yet astonished old-timers I passed by while blaring Govlink's new EP MASTER OF CEREMONIES in Tallahassee's historic midtown. The sound system belonging to my 2013 Hyundai Elantra is far from state-of-the-art, but even so, tracks like "Beam Trace Lagomorph" and "punchingdownintheair" grace my stereo with a swagger and a swank that can't be ignored. Even if you're sick and tired of club music, tasteless, or old, you'll find something — or a lot of somethings — in this little release to marvel at. Heather's effortless blending of all things ELECTRONIC and COMPUTER hasn't failed, not even once, to draw me in and keep me there. Do yourself a favor, and buy five copies of this album. Or ten. This weeks we have an unrecognizable creature caught under an avalanche on hypercore url: prey coded. A good mixtape is to throw yourself at the streets, speed up as your vision blurs, and lose yourself on new spots of the map, until you start laughing at your distress with a form of anxious peace. As she embarks on a pangy journey where trajectories break and paths narrow till you suffocate, only to reveal fog and echo. You might find pieced-up resolutions at the intersections, but it won’t mean we’re on the easy way out: hypotheses, interrogations, strangled laughs, murmurs of grief, frail vows to the future, ghosts of attempts to make sense of it all.
