Following the success of their debut single ‘Infatuation’, London based Liu Bei announce the 'GOODNESS' EP, out Feb 2nd 2015 via the newly founded Museumgoer Records.

The EP follows a successful 2014 that saw the band release their first single via Transgressive Records imprint paradYse to universal critical acclaim, as well as opening for Dry the River on their autumn UK tour. In 2015 Liu Bei will once again be gracing the stage with a string of live dates kicking off in Oxford on 3rd February 2015 (see tour dates below).

​Liu Bei (pronounced Lou Bay and named after a truly exceptional Chinese Warlord) create gloriously addictive and epic music. The 'Goodness' EP showcases three new tracks, perfectly melding shoegazey energy with moments of ethereal delicacy, all tied together with effortless melodic hooks. Full of shimmers and bite, and littered with heartstring plucking lyrics, the songs are delivered with a ferocious intensity, both on record and in a live setting. From the Teenage Fanclub-esque pulse of lead track ‘Goodness' to the pure iceberg beauty of 'Fields', featuring backing vocals from Rachel Goswell of shoegaze legends Slowdive, the EP captures a band racing ahead of the pack.

London duo Liu Bei have announced the release of a new double A­-side 7” single, ‘Mind Over Matter' b/w  'Philip Seymour Hoffman’, out September 25th via new London imprint Famous Friends.

Finding themselves enamoured with recent albums by the likes of Son Lux, Purity Ring, and Youth Lagoon, a newly inspired Liu Bei returned to the studio in late Spring to explore new musical territories.
Frontman Richard Walters: “When Liu Bei started it kind of felt like we were tweaking a radio dial, searching out our place in things...where we're at now is just a clearer, more focused, very slightly more electronic version of where we began...it's like we just came out of a reverb fog.” 

The result is 'Mind Over Matter', a perfectly crafted four minutes of joyous pop, brimming with energy and emotion. Produced by band member Patrick James Pearson (AKA San Felu) at Middle Farm Studio in Devon, the tracks effortlessly combines Wild Beasts-esque rhythms, swelling synths, ear-worm inducing hooks and soaring vocals to create something truly special. 

The release follows a frenetic 12 months for Liu Bei which has seen the band release their debut single ‘Infatuation’ to universal critical acclaim; tour with Dry The River, as well as playing their own sell­out shows across the UK; and collaborating with Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell on a track ('Fields) from the bands ‘Goodness EP’, released via Museumgoer Records in February 2015.

Collaboration is nothing new for Liu Bei’s Richard Walters and Patrick James Pearson who have
independently worked as songwriters, working alongside the likes of Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Joe Henry, Icelandic composer Olafur Arnalds, rising star Grace Lightman and London band We Are the Ocean, to name a few. 
Collectively, their work together as Liu Bei recently attracted the attention of DJ and house producer Solomun, who was so taken with the band that he produced not one but two remixes of LB track ‘Atlas World’ (Day / Night). Both cuts were released on Solomun’s own 2DIY4 label earlier this year with 'Day' reaching #1 on the Beatport Electronica chart (both made the top ten) and receiving strong radio support across Europe.

‘Mind Over Matter / Philip Seymour Hoffman’ will be released on September 25th via Famous Friends.

hello! 

well this is one of my favourite worship songs that i've ever heard. it's really quite beautiful and it's been stuck in my head. so i thought it would be nice to recreate it. a fun fact, i woke up this morning and felt inspired to make this into a song and so i did. i spent about 4 to 5 solid hours today working on it (i use ableton) and got it to a point where i thought it would be good enough to release. its not perfect, im not the best singer, but i am trying to get better hehehe. i would like to make a special mention to my beautiful housemate and little sis, carol shi for her beautiful vocals on this track. i asked her this morning for 3 minutes of her time and she recorded her vocal track in one take. the first time i forgot to press the record button (sorry carol hahaha i love you!) praise God for the gift of music.

Touch of Heaven

Heres something different from me. I tried to make a trap remix for this one but felt i was forcing something rather then having ideas come organically. When i first started producing a few years back i use to make house/disco house. I was never able to really nail either genre just because of my skill level at the time. It feels good to be able to nail the sounds i had in my head back then. I don’t know if ill do much of this, im 100% still a trap guy. This was just a lot of fun.
