Category 4 is a monthly broadcast concept from Michael Brunner [ @four4 ] for Great Circles Radio.

Each episode is broken into four segments, which are connected in some fashion, but routinely unique in many others. This allows for the drawing of comparisons between otherwise disparate concepts, while simultaneously creating enough creative restrictions to focus the musical selections.

Two words of negation; one to affirm the other.  Artists making something new out of a resistance to define.  These are attempts to avoid clichés, historicisms, and commodification by taking, for example, punk and combining it with non-rock structures, jazz and combining it with non-blues roots, classical and combining it with non-symphonic sounds, dub and combining it with non-reggae rhythms, and electronics used to negate any number of expectations.

An addition by contradiction, often beginning with music forms that started as a kind of negation in and of themselves.  Crossing points of music where the point is moving or removed.
