Dru’s last so well received output on his homebase JEUDI records was “Savannah” and “Praerie”. A contribution to the endless wilderness of the african and american grass fields.

This year he was reflecting about the joy of existence and what might be the slowest way to travel Egypt. Which curiously lead to the steadily developing funkyish stomper “Mind Parade”. 
It’s ever evolving 5th line synth and poetry philosophising about joy leads into a dense, feverish drop built to shake your existence. This tune is touching the peak time with pure but sublte power.

“Egypt Express” is the romantic imagination of travelling Egypt. A pulsating sequence is carrying you through the journey. Maybe at the camp for the night you took a drag of this pipe and the synth sequence suddenly turns into a psychodelic adventure. But no reason to worry; the pulse is keeping it together and is turning your trip into a ride of joy.

Returning to Juicebox Music is Delhi-based DJ/Producer extraordinaire, Vipul Angirish, under his new alias - SHFT, leaving his past sound to focus on a new approach - aimed towards the bold, clean & sonically creative aspects of underground house & techno. His collaborations with fellow Indian artist Kohra, as well as his own endeavours, have been released on Riley Reinhold’s “Traum Schallplatten”, Darin Epsilon’s “Perspectives Digital”, Dave Davis’ “Laark Records”, TrockenSaft’s “KDB Records”, Pete Oak’s “Blindfold Recordings” & their very own “Qilla Records” to name a few. For Juicebox Music, he presents a stunning 2-track EP showcasing his subconscious influences as well as his finesse as a producer. 

‘Memoir’ starts with melancholic piano parts, provided by SHFT’s musical mentor - Prabhir, smoothly drifting into and out of jovial sections that inevitably create a dramatic soundscape. SHFT’s signature modern and minimal approach to the groove, pulsated by sharp chord stabs, panned hats & sparsely thrown percussive bits, drives Prabhir’s story into the epic breakdown, featuring a gorgeous guitar riff courtesy of SHFT’s colleague - Rushil, finally culminating in a monstrous moment that’s simply irresistible.

Inspired by the intense & ominous cinematic soundtracks, SHFT takes those elements to the floor with ‘Second Sight’. Thunderous & crisp drums along with a simple bass groove, that cleverly mimics a clock ticking away, supply the bed for horn-based drone blasts, arpeggiated string sections, soaring leads & carefully placed piano parts. The devil is in the details & simplicity and that’s where the beauty hides.

The release concludes with Eric Lune making his label debut. Hailing from Melbourne, the Australian artist is perhaps best known for his Kindred alias. A downtempo/ambient project in which he spent six years under, earning more than two million streams across youtube and Spotify while playing at some of the countries most prestigious festivals. Now looking to put an emphasis on the dance floor under the Eric Lune moniker, the Australian artist presents his debut offering entitled ‘Re-Entry’. Emotive and charming in equal measure, i’s near three minute intro is a harmonic haze of indistinct vocals and sparse yet soulful instrumentation. The earthy, organic storyboard immediately draws you in as melodic clusters form, eventually building to a gentle yet exhilarating crescendo. With more new music on the way, expect to be hearing a lot from Eric Lune.
