Discover, create, recreate and transform. Remix culture represents the era of sharing, adaptation and dissemination of content. In this context, what defines the limit between creativity, innovation and originality? After all, as Lavoisier would say, "in the world, nothing is created, everything is transformed". Embarking on this context, we are proud to present our first remix EP with new versions of tracks that have marked the history of the label so far, with reinterpretations of Wild dark, Hot Oasis, Madraas and Chiari.

The album features a version for "Quite Like You" by Valdovinos, now remixed by Wild Dark. With a deep atmospheric aesthetic, the new arrangements deliver immersive melodies packed with soft percussions and ethereal tones. In the sequence, "Flower of Thale Cress", Nhii, receives new outfit by Hot Oasis, with delicate textures and percussive organic elements. "Quiet Inside", by label co-founder Edu Schwartz, gets a remixed version by Madraas, readapted for a more celestial melodic sphere, with subtle ambiences and engaging vocal Cuts. Finally, "Stimm", by also co-founder of the label, Awka, receives the reinterpretation of Chiari who bet on a version of percussive rhythms, vibrant and purely traveling synths.

While Vir and I only met in person once (which was a hello/handshake at my OddBird theatre gig in New Delhi back in 2017) we've had a close musical connection as he'd released 2 killer forward-thinking EPs on Manjumasi. We've been chatting over the years sharing music and musings on life in general. At the start of the pandemic, I had a lot of musical drafts, but I wanted to push them to the next level in terms of edginess and sophistication, so I sent a few tunes his way to see if he was inspired. He bounced back with some outstanding ideas, and we tirelessly worked on molding these lumps of clay into a lump of wax.

Artistically and personally, it's been an absolute pleasure working with Vir and building our relationship - it took us two years to fully understand each other's approach + figuring out when to compromise and when to veto, so I see this EP as the first chapter in a story that's yet to be written.

I'm proud of our final product and floored by the absolute stormer remix from @christopherledger, another artist whose music is another dimension beyond the rest of the pack.

Atish, Vridian - Touch & Go [Manjumasi]

Some artists try to sound like others, and some artists have others sound like them. The duo, Of Norway, falls in the latter camp - over a decade of forward-thinking creations that are uniquely their own. We’re honored to have them back on Do Not Sit with their three track “Sunflower” EP.

The title track’s heavy bass is the balance to the playful horn, while the intro breakbeats clear the path for the straightforward beat midway through the song. Lovely.

Following comes “Scheffeli”, a deep and moody groover that goes and goes.

Rounding it out is “Burnt Sienna”, which takes it even deeper. Lush and opulent pieces of sound interact with the steady, bubbly bass and drums. 

These gents know how to create timeless pieces of music.

No stranger to the dancefloor and festival scene, Elif brings her vision into sounds and words to present "Moonspell", her first offering to A Tribe Called Kotori.

With huge early success as an international music blogger, fresh talent Istanbul-born Elif covered all the main festivals as a writer until, after teaching herself music production and mixing, she swapped ligging for gigging four years ago as a DJ.
