Mycelium welcomes back PIMI, one of the labels hosts, known for his hypnotic grooves, robust and shapely basslines, and eerie synths, creating progressive and melodic music. ‘Exos’ marks an anticipated return for Alex Niggemann, following his two 2017 outings, ‘Legacy’ / ‘Fences’ (AEON027) and ‘Serenity’ (AEON031). The releases on the highly respected Berlin based producer’s label, AEON, mirror the DJ sets that he is famed for, focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless music, whilst always pushing boundaries and moving things forward.

Alex’s first outing in 2018 is a diverse package that displays his customary variety of moods and textures. ‘Exos’ demonstrates Alex’s command of intricate layering techniques, and jacking rhythmic patterns sure to rock the most discerning of floors, building to a satisfying synth laden climax.

‘Array’ by contrast, adheres to a darker and more melancholic mood, building a haunting tension throughout, and driving relentlessly and menacingly forward at all times.

Yotam Avni has been catching many people’s attention with his recent outings on Innervisions and Hotflush. Here the exceptionally talented DJ/Producer provides perfect remix interpretation for ‘Array’: mounted on a deliciously solid groove, Yotam’s arrangement continually teases and surprises, introducing esoteric percussion and sensual synth flourishes to create an atmospheric alternative.

Celebrating it’s 5th anniversary this year, Alex Niggemann’s lovingly curated AEON defined by his ever-careful devotion to perfection, provides a distinctive vision. This bold attitude has precipitated AEON’s ability to continually evolve and flourish, since its inception. AEON has been in musical rude health of late, with Speaking Minds, Amarcord, Lauer, Fort Romeau, Moscoman, Kincaid, Joris Beismans and label boss Alex Niggemann all bringing the heat. Now, continuing the high level of quality, up steps Israeli man of the moment Jenia Tarsol with two classy Italo influenced cuts on his 'Strom EP’.
The title track, ‘Strom' is a playful workout, featuring hypnotic low-end organs over a simple but irresistible groove which draws you in before a high-end organ motif adds a real element of light heartedness to the track with a melody that’s sure to get stuck in your head and bring a smile to all but the most chin stroking clientele.
‘Nosisi’ is a more serious affair but still retains Tarsol’s trademark drum programming and a dance floor friendly vibe. Hooky disco influenced Guitars are the order of the day here, used to subtle but devastating effect before whispered vocals add an etherial edge to the soundscape. Remix duties are fulfilled on this EP by Panthera Krause and Uriah Klapter. Krause leans yet more on disco flavours with his take on Nosisi, with a Moroder-like baseline locking the listener in early before a powerfully atmospheric breakdown delivers the ‘spine tingle’ moment. Klapter takes Strom down a more menacing path with industrial percussion elements dominating, before a driving baseline picks up the pace and the low- end organ makes its self known. 5am vibes a plenty on this moody groover.
All in all another stunning package from the in-form German label.
AEON take over Oosterbar in Amsterdam on October 19 for an ADE Special with Alex Niggemann, Fort Romeau, Jenia Tarsol, Speaking Minds and Kincaid.

Alex Virgo returns to Eats Everything’s Edible label after 2018’s simply huge ‘Ze Dance’ hit, with a follow up single that ramps up the disco chips with another floor filling monster, ‘Brother’.

Unashamedly plundering the sort of cosmic disco that drives the crowds wild at spots like NYC Downlow and Horse Meat Disco; ‘Brother’ is spacey and futuristic, intoxicating and Balearic, and with a vocal that hits the sweet spot, we anticipate this one to be ringing out across all discerning discotheques for quite some time .  ‘Who You Know’ pitches elated and loopy sample use with a chunky bassline and beats combo, parping brass and a ton of funk!

We couldn't pass the beauty of 'Heart Signs' track by dOP we released recently on vinyl and digital, so that's how we had the idea to implement more versions into this dramatic composition.
Israel producer Chaim, the artist of such notable labels as Bpitch, Rumors, Visionquest, as well as his recently launched Blue Shadow imprint, has always been known (for us and the world) for his signature sound at a rich and varied range in full.His remix of 'Heart Signs' is a great interpretation of the original; with great repetitive sharp synthesizers leads, crunchy percussions and mystic delayed Jaw's vocals it gives a feeling of the abrupt and unexpected approach to it's sound.
Needless to write a lot about Tiefschwarz, as it's pretty much known for guys brilliant music. With more than two decades of the duo career, releasing multiple records with Watergate Records, Get Physical, Compost, Dessous, Cocoon, Bedrock, Mobilee, as well successfully A&Ring their influential Souvenir label, Ali & Basti have followed their own path of musical brilliance. Their remix of 'Heart Signs' is accentuating the thoughtful mood of the original, taking the main elements of the track: vocals and the piano touches, wrapping them into dark techno shell.
Two different mixes have said it enough about the track, so we hope you'll be as much happy, as we are with this release.
