Welcome to the wonderful world of JOBE, a dynamic and driven deep house / techno artist with a firm grasp on mood and motion. This latest EP, Orcus, showcases JOBE's deft hand at effortlessly manipulating energy and emotion while leading the listener ever onward. Ultimately the boundary-pushing three-piece EP is an intoxicating glimpse of an unreachable and engaging dimension.

The EP introduces itself with certainty and drive from track one, “Orcus”, which reverberates off of both futuristic and barbaric basslines and floats with eerie energy. The curious track slowly but surely swells into being as the pace quickens into an energetic crescendo and extends further into an intriguing dream world.

Track two, “Dissolusion” turns the EP in a slightly different direction; a sultry and succinct statement of being, realized through concise melodies and rebellious undertones. The song feels like an all at once fluid and unyielding version of human existence; a poetic state of both bliss and angst.

The EP then delves from “Dissolusion” into “Dystopia”, a decidedly darker and more driving definition of the material world. The song eases from an aura of lightness and intrigue into a vacuum of mystery and worldly decay. From start to finish, there is an undeniable fascination in the fabric of this created universe. We will eagerly await the next chapter in the growing repertoire of JOBE.

German duo and upcoming Techno act Diaz & Parree deliver their debut Frequenza release, ‘Act Out Sexually’, including remixes by Patrick Kunkel & Nihil Young and Carlo Ruetz.

‘Act Out Sexually’ is a psychotic piece of filthy techno that builds suspense through its endlessly rising trippy acid synth twists. VIKA’s sensual yet dark vocals seductively build upon the duos driving bassline, eventually layering in booming hi-hats to help create some massive releases.

‘Perverse Thoughts’ really builds upon those driving and fumbling kick drums taken from ‘Act Out Sexually’. This take however, is like a mini-techno perverse symphony; a very well developed set of arrangements that builds upon the duos addictive formula. With a plethora of twisting, warbling and driving synthlines, this track will no doubt keep you hooked from the very start.

Patrick Kunkel & Nihil Young’s remix of ‘Act out Sexually’ takes on a much more smooth and progressive version of the track. Still a very powerful interpretation, the pair take a much more melodic approach, layering a diverse range of synth lines with dark and brassy sounding stabs. Pulling the vocals back to a mere distant presence, the track has a somewhat hypnotic feel.

Carlo Ruetz remix of ‘Perverse Thoughts’ stays slightly more true to original, a thumping rave/techno interpretation that focuses more upon it’s rhythmic side. High-pitched synth lines are juxtaposed heavily against dark and progressive bass stabs, finally released with a pounding and percussive drum pattern.

After Aaaron's remix for Djuma Soundsystem & Westerby's track 'Disambigua', which was released last year on Chapter 24, the Berliner teams up with Deckert and vocalist Meggy for his label debut, 'Shadows'. The percussion driven EP title track is the perfect symbiosis of a late summer tale and a golden autumn as it covers the warmth of both seasons and enriches it with the romance one can find in the beauty of Meggy's dreamancholic voice. Aaaron & Deckert manage to balance the usage of synth pads and vocals and give both the freedom to unfold their strengths as they are supported by the producer's preference of adding rhythm-influencing soundscapes. If there has ever been a shadow covering the trio, they surely stepped out of it with this track, with this EP.
