'Past Midnight' is a contemporary interpretation of retro dance music delivered by Atlanta-based Mister Sweatband through three original tracks. The EP features three distinct club tracks that give hope of never-ending nights dancing in a sweaty room, delivered through rolling basslines, memorable arpeggios, and long pads.

The release is opened by 'Past Midnight' and closed by an alternative version of the track, a Midnight Mix filled with hope and emotion. The Main Mix arrives as a happy definition of Indie Dance: a beautiful visit to the past with the eyes set on the future.

'You' comes up as a clubbier track while giving a remarkable soundtrack feeling, perfectly binding danceability with an old-school happy mood.

Although the name of the last original track could lead to thoughts of a closed sound, 'Locker Room' is the opposite, an ode to Mister Sweatband's retro aesthetics delivered through an outstanding opening of synths and pads, which are more than enough to confirm his capacity as a storyteller.

'Blossom Kollektiv is proud to unveil their first full-length release since relaunching in 2022, with Porto’s Pixel82 and his first album “Infinity” set to make its appearance this June.

Pixel82 talks about this work, which was produced during a time of forced introspection and uncertainty, as a rediscovery of the past to find the future. He wanted to create an uplifting vibe for the songs on the album while still having a subtle dystopian feel in them.
To achieve this sound, he experimented with polarities and used sounds that are personal to himself including organic sounds from nature and even from his personal life with the use of a recording of the heartbeat from his own daughter.

During the nine-track expedition, the artist creates an honest tour de force, without the constraints of making dance floor shakers and the end result is a highly effective trip that electronic music lovers around the world will adore, not only for listening but also with various moments that will work wonders on the dance floor. Each track is carefully crafted to play off the other with lively alluring synths, eclectic beats, and clever use of vocals throughout the album that seals each track together cohesively.

Beginning with “Breaking Free” its creative use of vox paired with uplifting synths sets the mood of the album that leads to the title track “Infinity”, an underground pop venture with the same feel-good vibe but with catchy vocals that are sure to be stuck in the listeners head long after hearing it. Then the broken beat tracks “Beyond” and “Alien World” whisk you off to strange new worlds with interesting broken beat drum patterns and synths that keep the same harmonious vibe as the rest of the album. Originally from West Wales now residing in Amsterdam in a studio nestled beside the river Ij, Maroki now joins the ROOS family following a string of stellar releases. He leaves nothing to chance, using his classically trained skills and expertly engineered sounds into a pool of influences that range from breaks, moon-lit acid and heads-down chuggy goodness.

The record launches with title track ‘Emerald City’ a moody cut that whisks you away from the city's bustling streets and off the beaten track. Maroki’s fixed hand helps elements blend seamlessly into another, in what feels like a personal guide through the emerald’s subterranean. Then comes the gentle and tranquil electronics of ‘Alfred Stole My Brain’ both welcoming and meditative, while the swing in drums provide dance-floor functionality and set the pace. The A side comes to a grand close with ‘Talk2Me’ a brooding acid cut that mixes in elements of breaks and aquatic synths. The track's swelling energy feeds from the A side's previous two, culminating in a build up of emotion and speed.

‘Total Recall’ raises its hypnotic head, a series of winding synths and 4/4 kick drums creating a maze of sound, before perhaps the record's hidden gem ‘All Be Over’ arrives like an old friend. The track’s familiar sound design coupled with Maroki’s distinct personality create a warm and lasting friendship; melting together old and new perspectives. ‘Slower’ rounds off the EP, an equally stunning and fiery mix of breaks and angelic electronics.
