Making their label debut with the first interpretation of ‘Supernova’ is Pablo Bolivar & Nacho Sanchez. 

Hailing from Spain, Pablo Bolivar has been a fixture of the deep house underground for the better part of two decades. Revered for his sultry grooves and organic design, the Cantabria resident and Seven Villas label boss channels languages of varied musical landscapes, churning them into his own complex rollercoaster of intricate dubbed out house and techno. 

Of late, fellow countryman Nacho Sanchez has been a frequent production partner of Pablo, bringing his Detroit/Berlin coax of deep elegant techno for a creative synergy which has found the duo thriving. 

Now, paired once again for their Refraction debut, Pablo and Nacho deliver a heady interpretation of ‘Supernova’. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Spanish duo craft a sweeping sonic experience all their own, a transcendent journey into an wintry hinterland, where minimalistic grooves and submerged designs surface from their dubbed-out architecture, onwards to a finale meditative percussive arrangements.

Presenting their second release of the year, REFRACTION RECORDS welcomes Chiari to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Brazil, Chiari first emerged in 2019 on the strength of releases for The Purr and Magician on Duty. With a deep, organic and groovy sound, the Balneário Camboriu resident was quickly tipped as a new artist to watch going forward. The next three calendar years would see Chiari choose his projects wisely, adding Hoomidaas, Seven Villas and Where The Heart Is to his discography, while refining his repertoire with further depth, colour and detail. A remix of Pedro Capelossi's 'Horimono' via Loot Recordings ended 2023 on a high note, ultimately leading to his first release of 2024, and subsequent Refraction debut 'Plans & Plants', alongside remixes from Retza and Luis León.

Pretty much every young man goes through a stage in his life where he is living fast and free - definitely not looking to settle down or get caught up in a relationship.

They spend their days “sampling from the buffet” and at the first sign of clinginess or a potential relationship they put their foot to the gas pedal and leave the situation behind them in a cloud of dust - they think they have it all figured out.

But inevitably we encounter that person who no matter how quickly we drive away from them they stay with us, our mind keeps drifting back to them and we don’t know why - it goes against everything we know but we inexplicably turn the car around an go back to find them.

No one can foresee falling in love.

The hero in my song is at that place where his perfect plan is being “blown to pieces” and he’s realizing that while he used to believe that he was in control of everything, now the only thing that he know’s for sure is that he knows “Nothing at All".
