Exclusive: Cinthie - City Lights (Damiano von Erckert Remix)

After his Replica Material EP and a contribution to Robert Johnson's Lifesaver compilation – both out in the fourth quarter of 2020 – Damiano von Erckert is back on Will Saul's Aus Music label to take on remix duties for Cinthie's City Lights,which was originally released on her album Skyline City Lights last summer. The AVA.-head Damiano and Elevate-owner Cinthie cultivate a deep friendship so having DvE remixing City Lights seems to be a natural process of bringing together two of the (Deep)House-scene finest showcasing their talent, skills, love and respect for the music. In typical Damiano-manner the artists reworks City Lights into a continuous Housey-take that contains the strings from the original but due to a rather four-to-the-floor bassline and omitting the Disco-esque elements is a decent approach to make people believe in the power of House. The way Damiano weaves the vocals into his remix at the end when already having created an addictive groove makes his version of City Lights shine brighter than all street lights together.

Cinthie's City Lights will be released on Aus Music on May 14th, 2021.

Out of Tulum, km.4.5 is birthed. Branching out from the Papaya Playa Project umbrella, its curators have created an extremely special home for electronic music idols and up-and-coming artists alike.

Dorisburg (Boss Musik/Aniara) opens the four-tracker with an introspective and low-mid heavy, percussive, syncopated and obscenely-swung masterclass of his signature and inimitable sound palate that we have all come to know and love over the years so well.

Electronic music stalwart Sebastian Mullaert (Circle of Live/Minilogue) appropriately follows suit with incomprehensible and inimitable levels of depth on his appropriately titled track 'No Menace'. 4x4 kicks lull you into a continuous state of hypnotism that he has come to master over the decades of production he is so well known for. Essential.

Wareika rolls through with polyrhythmic lines of improvised funk and drum-machine jams that draw from Detroit and Berlin - this is second to none.

Kalabrese closes out the record with 'Tribe'; a low-slung excerpt that boasts analogue machinery from the outset and throughout, in conjunction with a happy rolling groove that is infectious to the core.

One of the North East’s rising dance music stars, REES joins the Shall Not Fade roster with four killer post-disco influenced cuts. The producer and brains behind label/party brand Paradiso is a need-to-know for anyone with an eye on Northern dance culture, gaining acclaim at home and abroad with a US tour under his belt.

Romanticism EP is as infectious, upbeat and danceable as REES’ previous outgoings; ‘Nipote’ kicks it off with purpose A real retro rhythm with an exuberant edge, it pulses into ‘Velvet Dreams’ Linn Drum style beat and dark proto house melodies, by which point the spring in your step is unavoidable. The title track is a synth-driven Giorgio Moroder-esque epic, while ‘Delta’ is the rawest of the bunch where stripped-back percussion takes centre stage.
