Premiere: Uone - Just You & Me - Beat & Path Records

As the end of winter draws nearer, we're excited to get the new year started with Jakhira and Modulo's Alignment. First up is Rimbu, a sonic exploration into uncharted territories which effortlessly blends piano, violins and cello with a thunderous bassline and thumping percussion. 

Next is Moonchild, which was born out of classical instrumentation inspired by dreams of the night sky. Then we have twin sister Her, the first of Jakhira's solo efforts, in all her playful glory with guitar riffs and innocent keys dancing atop the ever-evolving pads underneath. Which leaves us with Searching For Utopia, to close off the EP in deeper terrain.

Ma'at stands for the principles of truth, order, harmony, balance, morality, justice, and law. Ma’at was also the one who personified these principles. She was honored and beloved throughout most Ancient Khemitian kingdoms and periods.
Her signature “Feather of Truth”, the Feather of Ma’at, was so central to the way of life all over Khemit that her name had become an appellative in Khemit. Ma’at was the core principle of ethics and morality in most Khemitian societies.

According to this myth, the creator came out of the primeval mound of creation and placed his daughter Ma’at (representing harmony and order) in the place of hisson (representing chaos). The meaning of the myth is clear – the creator established the world by replacing Chaos with Order.

Once order was established, it was the role of Khemit’s rulers to maintain order, to make sure that Ma’at lived on in the whole land. The devotion of the people and kings to Ma’at went so far that many of Khemit’s rulers incorporated Ma’at in their names and titles – Lord of Ma’at, Beloved of Ma’at, and so on.

The majority of her depictions showed her as a thin woman, who sometimes carried an ankh or other times with bird's wings under her arms. She almost always wore a headband to secure a single feather to her hair, known as the Feather of Truth.

Maat’s feather was used in the Hall of Truth to judge the souls of the deceased for their worthiness by placing their hearts on a scale against Ma’at’s Feather of Truth. The heart was said to be the organ carrying the human consciousness – that’s why the priests would remove all other organs from the deceased’s body during the mummification process but leave the heart. 

Ma’at was the ethical system that all Khemitians followed. According to Ma’at, Khemitians were expected to always be truthful and to act with honor in all matters that involved their families, social circles, their environment, their nation, and rulers, and to follow the 42 Laws of Maat, the world's oldest moral and ethical code for human conduct. That is very similar to the Ten Commandments and most moral principles in all religions that came after.

Mitch Oliver - Treasure Trail [Sounds Of Khemit]

'Baikal Nomads is a record label focused on organic house with deep atmosphere and melodic grooves. The label's latest release features collaborative original music from Cereus and Revibe along with stunning remixes by Veytik, Alex Doering and Timboletti.

There are two original tracks on this release that include the collaboration, plus a solo production by Cereus. Both of the original artists are from Denver, USA and Revibe is an emerging talent making his debut with this stunning release.

Cereus is making his debut on Baikal Nomads following an exquisite debut on the Suprematic record label where he showcased his downtempo blend of ethereal atmosphere and enchanting melodies.

On remix duty, Veytik is an American artist from New York whose mystical tracks have been released on respected organic house record labels ranging from Harabe to Cafe De Anatolia.

Alex Doering is a Baikal Nomads regular who provides a spine-tingling remix in the style that he has featured on other imprints such as Kosa, The Purr and trndmsk.

The last of the remixes comes from Timboletti, a renowned German artist who has been pioneering organic house since the genre's inception and has an impressive back catalogue including music on Sol Selectas, Kindisch, Do Not Sit, 3000 Grad Records and Stil Vor Talent.

"Kula" is the collaborative original and it opens the release with rattling organic percussion and majestic pads that create an uplifting atmosphere with a soothing vibe.

"Chandra" is the solo original by Cereus and it's a spellbinding track with sweeping synths and pulsating rhythms that are cut by rushes of sparkling melody and it unfolds with building tension.

Veytik's remix of "Kula" drops the tempo and adds vocal chants that give the track an indigenous vibe full of psychedelic and shamanistic vibes.

Timboletti's remix of "Kula" adds trippy synths with techy undertones that lead into the soothing synths of the original as the track moves towards the spiralling textures of the breakdown.

Alex Doering's remix of "Chandra" adds hallucinatory vocal textures and stabbing synth chords along with a prominent snare that helps him create a dramatic remix that lifts the energy of the original.'
