8dayCast 418 - Voldemar

Summer is slowly but surely coming to an end and the nights are getting longer again. What could be more fitting than an EP called Night Shades? Responsible for this is Berlin artist Jiggler, one half of former Bar 25 favourite Channel X. He has been causing a stir with his solo project for many years, including releases on Stil vor Talent and Katermukke. The first track, Night Shades, which shares its name with the EP, captivates with its driving groove and wonderfully dreamy yet uplifting lead synth. With the second original, Voyager, the journey through the night continues seamlessly, albeit in a more rousing and darker way. Jiggler is supported by a total of three artists with their own interpretations of the originals: Richard Elcox, the Scottish Berliner by choice, who was already playing around with his brother's Korg MS-20 at the age of 11 and the well-known Matija and Contenance here in Zurich. The former has been part of the local scene for over three decades, the latter is well on his way to emulating Matija.

Lets welcome Mia Kober for our next deep story. She is a New Zealand-based music curator renowned for her ability to craft silky sounds, soulful basslines, and curate immersive experiences. Mia stands as an integral pillar of the vibrant music community in NZ, leaving her mark on festivals like Shipwrecked, Fusion and Garbicz.

Mia’s mission goes beyond the decks she is a passionate advocate for creating immersive environments that transcend performance. Her impact ripples through the festival and event scene, where she plays an active role in shaping the culture from the inside out. She is also a founding member of Silk Collective, a mentorship platform dedicated to nurturing aspiring DJs and rising talent.

Her new mix came together on a long flight home, curated mid-air between continents. In a time of transition, as European summer fades into autumn and spring begins ahead. This is a mix from the in-between. A little on the gentler side: soft in touch, steady in motion, with deep grooves and rolling rhythms. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.
