'Toulouse based label Canal Auditif keeps things close to home this time, as they welcome one of the cities main talents, Karmaâ, on board for a fantastic new release.

We’re sure the name Karmaâ rings a bell for many of you melodic house lovers, as his work previously appeared on powerhouses such as 3000 Grad, Parquet Recordings and Inlab Recordings to name a few. This time he teams up with up-and-comer Dirty Groove for their new single ‘Forest’ which comes in the original version and remixes by THe WHite SHadow and Max Tenrom.

The title track starts out subtly with some ethnic vocal sample action and an easy going guitar riff, but slowly but surely moves into more rugged terrain with it’s raw filtered synth melodies and overall dark arrangement.

THe WHite SHadow turns the tempo up a notch and adds a proper dosage of tribal percussive shakers to the mix, as well as cleverly adding his own magical touch, cleverly built on top of the melody of the original.

Exploring the deeper side of the melodic spectrum, Max Tenrom delivers an amazing job here. He delivers a subtle and very musical tension builder, simply lovely!

Dirty Groove also flies solo on this release, presenting ‘Evening Spirit’, a slow moving deep house track which is characterized by it’s clear ethnical Middle East influences.'

Shunus is a solo project by UK producer Shaun Lawes. With his first LP effort, Rainburn, he is pushing his sound forward with unique haunting vocals and hypnotic beats.

As always with the Cairo based artist, the sound design is precise and the sounds used, diverse. Field recordings and acoustic instruments merge seamlessly to build a refined listening experience throughout.

Out of the 8 tracks, 7 feature Shunus own vocals and lyrics. With his lyrics, he discusses ideas of tranquility and acceptance as a cure to the inner battles happening within. Remaining metaphorical, the lyrics are often used as an ambience rather than an upfront lead vocal as used in pop or rock'n ‘roll.

Sleepwalking opens up the album with a mellow and organic mood. The piece slowly evolves from the dreamy ambience to a lovely chords progression supporting the vocal lines.

The song Tougher Times makes an exception to the ambience vocals with catchy and modern pop ones. With its melancholic guitar arpeggio, the song evolves from a laid-back ballad during the verse to a super groovy drop. Being the only downtempo track of Rainburn, this contrasted piece has everything to be a hit on the dancefloor.

Rainburn is one for the percussions lovers. Very much following the features of modern Afro-House, the track is positive and is just about euphoric. The marimba grooves and repetitive vocals lines take root in the heads and you might catch yourself singing along in no time.

Primal presents an organic and noisy soundscape. The tracks is clearly defined by Shunus' trademark electronic, distant and almost shamanic vocals. Oriental strings reveal their harmonies during the energetic and mighty instrumental drop. Synth lovers will also not be left on the side of the road as these appear discreetly to temper the rather dark atmosphere of Primal.

Never Felt has this circus vibe straight from the beginning. Reminiscent of early 60's garage bands, the soundscape is resolutely acid and groovy. Shunus' vocals are tastefully freakish and invites to go along and dive deep into the trip.

When You Were Young is a pathway between cultures; percussions from South America meet with eastern instruments and melodies.

With hypnotic arps and odd sounds, Endless stands out as a distinctive yet accessible and danceable track. Lots of sound effects and organic texture complement the otherwise all-electronic beat.

This Is The End is the only ambient piece of the album. Featuring ethereal pads and dreamy piano sounds as well as repetitive trance-inducing guitar riff, this complex sound field is made to get lost into.

While most of the album remains dancefloor friendly, the precise sound design and organic textures make it mandatory to have multiple listens with headphones on.

Sol Selectas welcomes back Russian artist Zakir who has also compiled tracks and remixes for Exotic Refreshment, Akbal Music and Nazca.

This is Zakir’s third EP for the Sol Selectas and along with his two originals, it also includes remixes from Kadosh and Kincaid.

Kadosh is an Israeli artist making his first appearance on Sol Selectas following contributions to other labels such as microCastle, Watergate and Innervisions.

UK based Kincaid has been a regular feature on Sol Selectas along with also working with other imprints such as Disco Halal, Anjunadeep, Chapter 24 Records and Nie Wieder Schlafen.

Zakir’s two original songs are inspired by his daughter Yasmin, who was always playing with her toys in the background, while he produced the tracks in his home studio. The playful sounds of those toys appear in both songs, giving this EP a deeply personal meaning.

“Toy Carousel” opens the EP using the acid-line from a Roland TB-303 as a foundation of the track. Zakir then adds the subtle bassline melodies, which open up to brighten the mood with a festive vibe. Enchantingly captivating and full of mystery this trippy cut blends classic electronic elements with organic textures.

The remix of "Toy Carousel" comes from Kadosh whose afro house rework adds lush keys and spacey pads to the original, which combines to create a beautiful hypnotic mood, and a melodic groove that tantalises the senses.

Second of the originals “Whirligig” also incorporates an acid-line, which slowly evolves in a dubby progression, surrounded by swinging percussive elements, and ethereal chants. The captivating mood paints pictures of desert landscapes and mystic temples.

Kincaid closes the release with his mind bending Twirlygig remix of "Whirligig". He slows the tempo down and concentrates on the acid-lines, building up the tension to a point of near insanity, and then brings it all back down to earth with a smooth downbeat groove.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the playful nature of the music, woven into the fabric of our galactic cosmos.

Alex Twin released his first track with Pipe & Pochet on our Paragon Compilation. Now, he is back with the "Dance to the Beat EP." This EP includes two original tracks and two remixes, one from Pandhora and another from Elif.

Alex got his inspiration for the track "Dance to the beat" when he heard an ancient Indian flute. While playing the sample, he started producing a groove in combination with the flute was able to make the tune into a dancefloor hit. The second track on the EP is called "Pandora." This track is groovy with nice middle eastern accents and a retro vibe.
