Apocalyptic in tone and feel, these brooding synths juxtapose a gritty saw tooth baseline record, warping you around in its raucous overtones. This is definitely a journey record and one for the late night heads.

On the B Side is an unbelievable remix from Darren Emerson. He takes proceedings into the more metallic, edgy, analogue side of techno. His remix is aggressive, it’s mean, it’s dark, it’s proper warehouse rave vibes and this mix is best listened to at screeching volumes, with his breakdown air horn synth style juxtaposed against the dark pumping techno groove. Major
DJ support already on this from the likes of John Digweed, Jamie Jones and Luciano.

Transcode tells us: "Though critical of my own productions, "Monolith" is actually one of my favourite tracks and I am very excited about the release. This is my first record to hit a Vinyl press and having Darren Emerson on board nailing such a great remix is just the cherry on top. I am a big fan of space & cosmology and at the time of writing this track I had just watched a classic film "2001 A Space Odyssey" which is as deep & dark as it is trippy, so I think I drew a lot of influence from being in that mindset. "Monolith" is a warm & mind expanding techno track that floats between musical boundaries & ignores the limitations of genres.”

Transcodes’ sound leans towards deep, driven techno but he doesn’t limit his horizons, he designs deep and elaborate tracks that ignore the generic rules and constraints of genres. Crossing over musical boundaries is a must, with well crafted sounds, atmospheric soundscapes, weighted beats and lush low end sonics his music receives support from Joris Voorn, BTraits, Alan Fitzpatrick, Carl Craig, ANNA, Fur Coat, Wehbba, Shall Ocin, Andre Crom, Adrian Hour, Groove Armada, Adriatique, Gardens Of God, Gorgon City & many more.

Motek Music's next release comes from Canada and artists Larose and Josef. Larose has been a regular Motek member from his time living in London and now having moved back home to Montreal has teamed up with Josef for this bold and punchy EP 'Light / Gate'. 'Light', the darker of the two has strong driving bass tones and an industrial feel within the synth sounds, whilst detuning vocals provide focal points and weight to the production. 'Gate' has a strong presence but with a lighter feel than 'Light'. More air in the string synths and guitar add space and a layer of atmosphere as syncopation in the snare and percussion create elements to grab on and dance too. The track is finished and given its forward pushing feel with a pulsing 16th note lead.

Remixing on this release we welcome Barber and Bonaca. Having had Barber as part of lineups on past events, we are very happy to welcome him to the label with his take on 'Light.' He has kept the track dark but added crisp and sharp beats sections intertwined with the space within the bass to give the music bounce. A rich production full of builds and intrigue with subtle fills and tricks to add to the depth and quality. Finally Bonaca has delivered a hypnotic version of 'Light'. Mysterious bell sounds move over warm low and high pads to create the foundation to which hints of the original come though. Strong driving bass lines along with the subtle rise and fall in the arrangement keep the track strong for the dance floor.

The 28th Chapter sees Djuma Soundsystem team up with Westerby for our latest story in sound: the cosmic afro tech of ‘Disambigua’.

Now based in Copenhagen, Norwegian artist Djuma Soundsystem was catapulted into the public's consciousness over a decade ago with his club classic 'Les Djinns' on Get Physical Music. His organic, sample-heavy signature sound is the perfect combination with fellow Copenhagen artist Westerby’s rougher, analogue synths and techy edges.

‘Disambigua’, their much-anticipated follow up to smash hit ‘Koma Kobache’ (Get Physical), is a standout cut which is already turning heads on dancefloors across Europe with its dark groove and killer vocal hook.

Rising star Jonathan Kaspar (Objektivity, Pets Recordings) is first up on the Editions, where he takes things deep. Built around the interplay of synth lines in call and response, his rework is a pure bass monster.

Meanwhile, label regular KatrinKa marks her latest release on Chapter 24 with an Edition that places the emphasis on a trademark infectious groove, paired with a spiritual melodic motif; a perfect balance of darkness and light.

The package is rounded out by Aaaron. The in-demand producer has worked with everyone from Defected and Get Physical to (more recently) Connected and Yoshitoshi. He focuses on deep, powerful drums in a version heavy on tension.

With this latest Chapter there can be no doubt: four different flavours of ‘Disambigua’ which together add up to a clear and coherent whole.

Following on from the success of last year’s ​Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun​, Bedouin are back on Crosstown with two original and evocative creations.

“‘Wastelands’ is a special one for us that carries a message about the journey of humanity. ‘Flamma’, was made with the dance floor in mind using live percussive elements with a Hurdy-gurdy lead played by Guilhem Desq who flew from Toulouse to London to record last winter.”- Bedouin 

Wastelands sets the precedence for the EP with its melancholic ambience and poignant lyrics delivered from one half of the duo Rami. Flamma adopts heavier instrumental sections that create an eerie atmosphere with a pensive and dramatic build up. 

Brooklyn-based nomads Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe together form the DJ and production partnership of Bedouin. ​Since its incarnation, they’ve achieved notable success, with Mixmag naming them their number one Breakthrough Act of 2017. In the same year they launched their hugely successful residency, Saga, at Ibiza’s Heart. They’ve brought their distinct sound to a number of hot labels including Get Physical, Supernature, Cityfox, Kindisch and All Day I Dream. With their diverse musical influences clear in their productions, Bedouin look set to open up their sound to all the far-flung corners of the world.

DJs are a nomadic people. Drifting between venues, airports and hotel rooms, they’re always on the hunt for new music and clubbing activity. They are, indeed, the Bohemians of the 21st Century. Or as Britta Arnold, unders and Noraj Cue would call them: Happy Campers.

Joep Mencke, one of the happies campers of them all, and his soul-propelling masterpiece, Asiri, is the perfect piece of music to usher in the Spring. “Music takes me on a journey. A journey that makes me want to close my eyes and wander off to wherever the melodies take me,” Joep has been quoted as saying. With soaring melodies, complex arpeggiators and moments of reflective dimuendos, it pays homage to Joep’s journey and appreciation into music.
