Unfinished Business

This is a song of separation and a song of hope.

This song came to be as the result of a conversation that I’d had with a dear friend of mine, once upon a time. I’d dropped in at his place after many long years and I still cannot forget the memory of him sitting in the middle of a big house and telling me about how his wife and he, had decided to separate.

For the next few days, I remember I kept thinking about him and I finally ended up writing down pieces of our conversation, adding to it, and re-framing the situation to capture what I hoped, would come to be.

In its yearning to soothe the soul, it is optimistic. A heartfelt declaration of an underestimated truth, … that “this too shall pass”

I'm Fine

Rinse & Repeat is about coming to terms with the end of a relationship. More importantly it is about moving forward from the phase where you think that you cannot start another relationship. While the feeling is natural, it is perhaps not wise to completely close off your heart to others and to life. The song is inspired by a tactic from the Alcoholics Anonymous. In AA nobody says that they will give up drinking forever. Instead they say that,  "just for today, I will not drink." That's brilliant. And so, I thought it'd be nice to write a song for those of us struggling with heartbreak and hoping for something better. Rinse & Repeat is a song that asks us to keep our hearts open- #JustForToday.

Sacred Ground is about coming to terms with betrayal in a relationship. The adult thing to do is to hold people accountable for what they've done, and the situation they're in. (Yourself included!) My fav lines in this song are worth pondering over: It's an age old truth I share with you. Everyone gets what they're committed to. This song is pushback. A powerful reaction. Pardon me for saying this, but for those of you who need one, this is a happy fuck you.

'La Petite Mort' which means the little death', in French, is unarguably the perfect metaphor for an orgasm. A languorous, flowing invitation, 'La petite Mort', is music you should make love to. So put it on, step into a realm of pure physical surrender and lose your 'self' in what lies beyond. There is no other!

Samsara sums up the Rinse & Repeat EP, and is literally and musically, a coda (a concluding musical section that is formally distinct from the main structure.) For a song so short, Samsara holds entire worlds within itself. And an empowering intent: May you dance through the ups and downs of life with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
