Archives, a new series presenting the sound of DJs and artists at Moment events, is proud bring you our third installment. For this episode we present a live set by Dutch artist Shoal, performed at the Moment festival last July.
This set has Shoal blending layer upon layer of organic synths and smooth and cozy beats, guiding the listener forward through an experience that is both meditative and hypnotic. Shoal mastered the set himself, so we’re delighted to bring you the most ideal version of the performance. Sit back, listen, and drift away.

With both DJ'ing and production output alike, Mike's name has been popping up increasingly everywhere in the last couple of years, and his productions span from 4x4 trippy, groovy techno, to intricate & otherworldly half-speed gems. This mix comes amidst the beginning of his Australia tour :)

Animix One Hundred & SIxty Nine: Human Space Machine

There’s something special about clicking with someone musically, aesthetically, and on a human level. That’s exactly how we feel about our collaboration with Mostra Festival, which is entering its third year. We’re thrilled to introduce some of the talent performing at the 2025 edition and to continue this creative exchange with our friends from Spain.

Mostra 2025 happens April 17-20 at two brand-new locations. With two waves of artists already announced, it’s clear that the high bar set by previous editions has once again been met. Expect the finest in ambient, experimental, avant-garde, and techno. The final wave of artists will be revealed tomorrow, February 12—keep an eye on the festival’s socials for the full announcement. More details on the lineup, new venues, and everything Mostra-related will be coming soon to our page.

Today’s guest mix comes from an artist we’ve been following closely: Mariachiara Troianiello, aka Katatonic Silentio. An Italian producer, DJ, and researcher, she moves between electronic music, performing arts, and sound studies, blending abstraction with club energy. Active as a DJ for over 15 years, her sets oscillate between an analog past and a fast-moving future—sometimes dreamy and introspective, other times razor-sharp and unpredictable.
This January, she was part of ExtraMostra event at Berlin’s OHM, where Mostra & Midgar joined forces. Alongside DjSport, Forest Drive West, Keplrr, and Severja, she delivered a mind-bending set in a packed-out club that couldn’t fit everyone who wanted in.

For her guest mix in our series, Katatonic Silentio explores dub techno in her own meticulous way—controlled, intentional, and always with a sense of movement. The first hour plays with restraint, each track given space to breathe, while subtle shifts build an unspoken tension. Just when you think you’ve settled into the groove, she nudges things into unexpected territory—tightening the pulse, throwing in off-kilter patterns, and steering toward a more kinetic, unpredictable second hour. It’s a mix that keeps you on your toes, unfolding with precision rather than force. A refined trip from an artist who never takes the obvious route.

Delayed x Mostra: Katatonic Silentio

This contribution is a very special one, as it marks a new chapter in The Observatory’s sound… 

We will always be a home for ambient and experimental sounds. But, moving forward, we will also be exploring our love for dance music, with a particular focus on the deep end.

To begin this new journey and warm things up, we are so happy to welcome back Timnah, who gifts us with a two-hour recording of her set at Omen Wapta, ADE’24. A mind-bending traversal through ambient, drone, and halftime experiments, exploring the liminal spaces between the listening room and the dance floor.

Timnah lives, works and feeds the cats in the Northwestern extremities of Switzerland. Brought up in her parents’ jazz clubs and deeply influenced by her brother’s love for dub and soundsystem culture, she started DJing just after the massively feared Millenium Bug had threatened to offset our relation to time and space. Dedicated to drawing her own map of late 20th century sonic landscapes, she spent the early 2000s exploring 90s electronics including breakbeat, triphop, ambient techno, drum&bass, house and jungle. After a short but sweet excursion into producing in the early 2010s, Timnah dedicated herself fully to spinning the wheels and transversing genres, gravitating towards her current signature sound that spans immersive sound baths and intergalactic carpet rides in half-time. Timnah is a member of Amenthia Recordings and a recent addition to the A Walking Contradiction Collective.

Berlin’s Refracted has been a name dear to us for some time, having contributed a remix to our inaugural label release nearly six years ago. The Paral·lel co-curator and resident has cultivated a devoted following over the years for his uncompromising vision developed through a remarkable catalog of releases for label such as Silent Season, Bitta, Sublunar and his own Mind Express. For our series Refracted contributes a mix true to his signature style, crystalline and patiently layered with unwavering intent, drawing across decades and genres to invite us into a divine state of mind. Since 2012, Caldera (@caldera-caldera) has crafted a distinct fusion of techno and bass, known for its immersive sound design.

His rhythmic experimentation offers a fresh perspective on dance music, exploring a wide range of BPMs along the way.

His music has been released on respected labels like Nummer Music, Kimochi Sound, Pressure Dome, and Well Street Records.

About the mix:
“I wanted to start the mix slightly faster and with more energy than I usually do. I already had the Aleksi Perälä song in my head as an intro for a set so I went for it and built the mix from there. While doing the tracklisting the mix slowly dissolved into the emotional ambient ending which happened very naturally and felt right.”
