The recording of my set at Paral·lel Festival 2022 🌲⛰🧡 @parallelfestival

I was on 12.30-14.30 on Saturday afternoon. When I started playing, grey hazy clouds were still drifting across the panorama from Friday night’s storm, and by the end of my set, the sun was shining down on all of us.

This set meant a great deal to me, and being gifted the task of drifting from ambient expansion into trippy rhythms, coaxing everyone up off the floor and into movement, was such a dream.

Hope you enjoy this memory from an amazing weekend in those magical mountains 🧚✴️

Mariachiara Troianiello, the Italian sound artist behind the moniker Katatonic Silentio, works at the crossroads of electronic music, performing arts and sound studies. Active as a DJ for more than 15 years, her sets adopt multiple forms, fluctuating between an analogue past and a technological, fast-paced future. At times, her sets focus on pure abstraction, consisting of ethereal soundscapes that seek to transcend the tangible through a mix of musique concrète, world, spoken word, ambient or dub. andy has such a distinctive sound, it’s so easy to recognise one of his tracks in a mix as he bridges together his mexican and jamaican roots through a futuristic style that spans across techno and dub leaning towards rich textural influences. it’s honestly quite hard for me to go a mix or radio show without including one of his andy’s tracks. his output is strong with his first release out in 2009 and has been steady ever since! whether that’s self-released, via his imprint mole audio, that he runs alongside didier dlb and where you’ll find collaborations with lee scratch perry and gavsborg, via labels such as ssensorial and discos movimiento or his ambient works which have led to andy performing in musuems, art galleries and festivals like mutek. there’s a touch of andy martin in every corner.
