This piece of music and sound collage came to life while under the limitation of using field recordings as source material for composition and features a software instrument I created from a modified acetylene torch sample. Nearly all of the sounds were recorded using my iPhone at J.D. Fontanella’s workshop as traditional instruments and vocals were not used. Many of the recorded samples were then altered to achieve the quality present in this work. The result has been tailored to evoke something fragile, shimmering, and tormented.

For some reason my shortcut through the woods was flooded. Every year the water level in this area was rising until the location became permanently waterlogged. Trees fell and the former forest became silent and inaccessible. This summer the area was drained, and it is now no longer a swamp or a forest. In the evaporating puddles the last of the remaining water creatures can be heard crunching.

...We all know by now that the promoters, DJs and artists orbiting around the Golden Püdel tend to be some of the most trustworthy sources of alternative ruminations in the city of Hamburg. (...) 
Even for such fringe operators in the German city, Scheich In China is a less familiar name, although Nina did hint towards enjoying performances from the beekeeper and experimental producer held at local “club not-club” Kraniche Bei Den Elbbruekken. 

Having taken part in the On-Brr project alongside Rodion Levin, Philipp Meiers first presented the Scheich In China moniker on a self-titled cassette release in 2014, before committing further music to Hafenschlamm. Now V I S will be releasing some fuzzy, tape-treated delights from the Scheich on a four-track 12”. The A-side is made up of three modestly sized pieces while the B is given over to a mammoth 18 minutes of disorientating delights. The release will be out later this week, clothed in a sleeve by Julien Raboteau.

His ambitions were high, his hopes low. These were wild wishes which had yet to come true. Only time would tell whether he might reach his goal and succeed. As he gazed out upon the city which lay before him he watched the lights of the buildings flicker. Each of these people had dreams like him, they each strived for something more, why wouldn't they? There would be little point otherwise. The light in the park began to fade and he stood up from the bench on which he had been sitting. He took a breath, the cold air blew, and he screamed. 

Lutto Lento was the first artist to release on Charles Drakeford's From The Depths imprint back in 2014. Now some two years later he is set to return with a new EP which is simply titled "Wild Wishes". Bizarrely melodic and pad focused this one is very much unique in its own right: the horror scream makes it so.

Imagine, if you will, a foreboding homemade electro-acoustic, new age, synth driven, proto-techno, imaginary world music Portastudio soundtrack for a Polish-made animated fantasy based on a Finnish modern folk tale and created for German and Austrian TV, composed in 1982 by two politically driven post-punk theatre performers from a shared house in Leeds!

To even the most perspicacious and adventurous of alternative music fans the genuine bloodline of this previously unreleased record already begins to sound like an entire record collection in one sitting. It would be surprising if this project's ambitious and exotic credentials didn't tick at least one box on your musical matrix and without one drop of unnecessary nostalgic hyperbole this project already sounds like the perfect fantasy record that you've never heard. Alternatively we could just say The Moomins and, for many, things would instantly begin to make perfect sense.

From the same social landscape as Gang Of Four, The Mekons and Impact Theatre Co-operative - armed with a Wasp synthesiser, an ocarina and a cassette of the Robinson Crusoe music taped off the TV, Graeme Miller and Steve Shill used minimum means for maximum mayhem, instilling over 35 years of dreamlike illusory fuzziness and freakiness into the memories of a generation of school age TV addicts waiting for the next 5 minute fix of outernational fuzzy felt folklore. Collected here, all in one place for the first time, Finders Keepers in close collaboration with the original composers finally bring the original homemade micro-melodies and reintroduce them to a musical landscape where fans of vintage electronics, concrète tape effects, pocket percussion and domestic synths are finally ready to be reunited with the magnetic music of Moominvalley.

Dedicated to promote young and evolving artists, raster-noton is curating the unun series which name refers to the chemical elements 111-119. »Unalloyed, Unlicensed, All Night!« is Jesse Osborne-Lanthier’s first release on raster-noton, and the ninth and final release of this series.

Jesse Osborne-Lanthier is a Berlin / Montreal based, Canadian electronic music producer and multidisciplinary artist. His erratic research process incorporates the urgency of dance music and conceptual electronics by disassembling their grammar and acting through it. Refusing to follow the etiquette of a particular musical genre, he explores many creative practices in order to generate clashes of mood, expectation and technique.

»Unalloyed, Unlicensed, All Night!« was recorded by Osborne-Lanthier a mere two hours before a live set in Paris. Its specific purpose was to generate a response from the audience, to stimulate their bodies through sound. The toolbox for this task was stocked with automatic call-and-response music tropes drawn from EDM, big-room house, trance, and online production tutorials. Between the producer’s idiosyncratic by-the-numbers process and the rushed nature of the composition, the final product is rendered unpredictable; each signifier transforms into a distorted ghost of itself. This allows for unexpected responses to manifest on the dance floor as well as in the listener’s space of existence.

Perc Trax closes it's second quartet of 'Ltd' releases by welcoming back Scalameriya for his second EP on the label. Last time he teamed up with VSK for 'Haka' but now he flies solo serving up three percussive grinders, each showing off different facets of his detailed and powerful sound. 

Opener and title track 'Kepslok' is built upon jagged electro riffs and the kind of stop / start rhythms that instantly differentiate it from techno's current glut of linear drum tools. 

'Annex No.3' utilizes the metallic percussion that Perc Trax is infamous for to devastating effect and closer 'Geargrind' tiptoes between 4/4 and broken rhythms, overlaying them with the glitching sounds of early computing and an irresistibly energetic bassline.
