Amerigo Gazaway's *Soul Mates* series continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never were. On the series' latest installment, Amerigo unites Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and soul legend Marvin Gaye for a dream collaboration aptly titled "Yasiin Gaye". Building the album's foundation from deconstructed samples of Gaye's Motown classics, Gazaway re-purposes the instrumentation into new productions within a similar framework. Carefully weaving Bey's tangled raps and Gaye's soulful vocals over his new arrangements, the producer delivers a quality much closer to an authentic collaboration than a lukewarm "mashup" album.'

With our latest Soul Mates Project release, fittingly titled "A Common Wonder," Amerigo Gazaway brings to life an imagined studio session between Chicago's crowned prince of Hip-Hop, Common, and Motown legend, Stevie Wonder.

A return to the Soul meets Hip-Hop formula of his Marvin Gaye + Mos Def pairing “Yasiin Gaye,” Gazaway connects the dots between Hip-Hop and the genre’s predecessor with a musical history lesson told through the intersecting themes of Common and Stevie’s respective catalogues. As Gazaway put it:

“Stevie Wonder’s early use of synthesizers, drum machines, and samplers, in a lot of ways, paved the way for hip-hop and sampling. Part of my motivation for this project was to highlight those contributions”

Picking up where Common and Stevie’s 2016 “Black America Again,” single left off, Amerigo brings his imagined recording session to life with a slew of uncovered resources (including multitrack instrument stems, interview audio, and documentary soundbites.) Re-orchestrating deconstructed samples, the producer interweaves Common’s vivid wordplay and Wonder’s passionate vocals for a project that blurs the line between a “mashup” and a modern day duets album.

Half lithuenian half russian, was born in Lithuenia, but soon moved to Siberia spent his youth. In his teenage years he participated in many different musical bands (mostly dub and reggae style).

1998 He established the reggae-dub collective Sacra Banda in association with Sergey Yakovlev known as Sgt. Dread.

1999 He took an interest in electronic music  and focused on Dj-ing in particular. He started working as a Dj at "Shuttle", the most popular and advanced nightclub in Siberia of that time, where several famous Russian Dj’s started their career (two of them are Katrine Vesna (Zeppelin production) and Sergey Cross (Arma) are in top 10 of russian djs for last 7 years.

2001-2003 He was a resident Dj at the biggest club in Siberia 'RockCity', composed personal music and went on tour as a member of electronic project '2 Spliff 4Dub', which released their debut dub-techno album with the German label "Rhythm and Sound".

2003 He moved to Moscow to work as a resident Dj and promoter at the club "Skwot" and established he personal label "Satta Sound System" in order to produce music and organize parties.
From then he took part in organizing events, from local parties in clubs, to large electronic music festivals (up to 10000 people) such as 'SunVibes' (Mountain Altay), 'Space of Joy' (Crimea, Ukraine) etc. He has shared the stage with lots of stars (Ferry Corsten, Prodigy, Umek, Moonbeam, Dusty Kid, Diselboy etc.) and went on tour in Israel, Greece, Spain and Germany.

2007 He begins spending his winters in Goa organizing parties, playing in venues all over the place and going to Moscow (Russia), Thessaloniki (Greece) and Barcelona (Spain) for the summers to doing the same thing.

2008 he joined Pink Orange Dj community, which achieved excellent results in the popularization of tech, deep and minimal sound in Goa which is traditionally the state of trance.

Off late he enjoys spinning for pro, house and tech gigs and recently headlined the Himalayan Outdoor Festival (Nepal 2012) as the only international act to play there. mista Hagen is a core part of the Goa electronic scene, playing and organizing electro / tech / house gigs in clubs like Marbela, Bardo, Cafe la Musica, Club Fresh, Sky Bar and many more. He has played at the first ever Indian Surf Festival (Orissa 2012) and headline 2013 year edition too. Having played in clubs in Mumbai, Delhi, Assam and Pondycherry there's no saying where his mixer and ear for sound will take him next, maybe to a dancefloor near u!

He stands for cutting edge no nonsense dance music and is fully dedicated to  his mission.
