In my mind, Gaster acts as a sort of refresher boss at the beginning of one of the last two chapters, re-teaching every mechanic through his attacks at a rate of difficulty that is comfortable enough for the player to process, but likely die to at least a few times. He goes through basic attacks, some low-attack variations of patterns that titans regularly use, and banishing in that order.
