Instalment one, summer 2008/2009:

I was still a young man and found myself in a patch of good health and financial security. With money came reckless spending, heavy drinking, and the rest. 

I hated my job and being an adult didn't come easily for me. I was insubordinate and my output was patchy at best. Undiagnosed psychiatric conditions played a lead role in my life and the absence of a genuine explanation brought frustration and fear.
 
More than anything, I wanted to make music, and to an extent I did, because I wrote these songs. But there were events in my past that were burning me alive, and every morning I stepped out the door to a world that was already on fire. This was the summer I would become radicalised.
