For his new single ‘Levada’, German beat guru FloFilz brings in UK Jazz/Hip-Hop multi-instrumentalist trio Dal. Inspired by the likes of J Dilla, D’Angelo, Robert Glasper and BadBadNotGood, Dal make music that sits somewhere in between Check Your Head Era Beastie Boys and Third Era Portishead. ‘Levada’ is the third single off FloFilz’s upcoming album ‘Close Distance’ that will be released on April 8th. 

‘Close Distance’ literally means “near in space or time” (or “nah dran”, as we say in German). The 16 songs on ‘Close Distance’ came to life over the past two turbulent years. It is no exaggeration to say that FloFilz has not only created another inspiring album with ‘Close Distance’ but one that demonstrates how music can close the distance which we all have experienced (and still do) in a beautiful way. With features by UK Jazz supremos Alfa Mist and Blue Lab Beats, London R&B artists Jerome Thomas and KeepVibesNear, long-term musical partners Summers Sons & C.Tappin, UK Jazz/Hip-Hop trio Dal & Cape Town Neo-Soul singer and songwriter Hunter Rose. ‘Close Distance’ will be released digitally and on LP with artwork by Indonesian illustrator Fatchurofi.

Exposed to music from a young age, FloFilz grew up in Belgium before moving to Aachen, Germany where he studied the violin and classical music, while also playing in orchestras. In addition to his parents, who were both musicians, he cites Hip-Hop icons A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib as key influences. Recognised as one of Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker has built his reputation led by his seductive blend of Lo-Fi, Soul and Jazz-influenced groves. Taking great inspiration from London's Jazz scene he has previously collaborated with the likes of MF DOOM, Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Ivan Ave, Blu, JuJu Rogers, Biig Piig, K.A.A.N., J.Lamotta and K, Le Maestro.

Third Attempt is back on Beatservice Records with yet more delightful audio honey, this time arriving with the gloriously soothing groove of 'Sunbeam Symphony'.
23-year-old producer Third Attempt has been in sparkling form of late. With a pair of exquisite singles having recently arrived in quick succession, his latest creation is again plucked from his hotly anticipated long-player slated to arrive in the coming months. While his previous outings have been blessed with heavy doses of floor-focused funk, 'Sunbeam Symphony' finds him in a delightfully laid-back mood with a track destined to provide the soundtrack for blissed-out sun-downs, poolside abandon, and at-home meditations.
Set over a groove that arrives like a cool summer breeze, the track evolves over soul-soothing chords, weighted bass and slick, rolling beats. Hypnotic e-piano guides us into position as the drums build the energy, the bass notes power us forward as Third Attempt's dextrous keyboard solo dazzles momentarily before subsiding for a dub-infused break. Spaced-out vocal chops and rising sweeps build tension before the sprightly drum fill sparks a return to the groove. Once again, the virtuoso solo steals the show, soaring over the irresistable groove before congas arrive to cement the intoxicating rhythm.
Showing absolutely no signs of abating his breathtaking audio output, Third Attempt once again shows production class and a formidable ability to skirt through musical genres on his indelible sonic quest.

The Duo Okvsho is one of the most promising prospects of upcoming musicians from Zurich. Influenced by the UK Jazz Scene, they successfully released their album Orange Wine. The acclaimed deep house producer and deejay Moomin, based in Berlin, therefore made a remix of one of its tracks: Jusqu’ici tout va bien. The artist, master in creating lo-fi house transformed this instrumental into a lo-fi jazz audio experience, deepening its groove, and turning it into a companion for any mind looking to relax and unwind through refined beats.

"Transit" is FloFilz' third album for Melting Pot Music. It is deeply inspired by the UK jazz and hip-hop scene and features collaborations with Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Biig Piig and K, Le Maestro.

FloFilz previous albums "Metronom" (2014) and "Cenário" (2016) were dedicated to the cities of Paris and Lisbon. The visuals for all albums have been created by acclaimed photographer Robert Winter.

"Transit" is available digital and on LP (limited gatefold edition includes a 20-page photo booklet by Robert Winter).

"Jazz (We've Got)" was the title of the second single from A Tribe Called Quest's iconic album "The Low End Theory". It was released in 1991, the same year FloFilz was born. Similar to Tribe FloFilz resurrects jazz for a new generation. He has been doing this for a while now and is pretty good at it, as you might know if you are familiar with his previous works "Metronom" and "Cenário".

In 2019 things have changed. Today jazz is not only about diggin' old records and learning about Bird and Trane. Jazz is very much alive and the city of London has become one of its epicenters. The UK jazz scene is happening because it is deeply connected with hip-hop, soul and club music. A perfect setting for FloFilz. Over the last 18 months, he has collected serious Eurostar miles, heading from Aachen to London - going to gigs, hanging out with musical allies and recording new material.

This is why he calls his new album "Transit". Through 18 tracks FloFilz translates the current London vibe in his very own style and fashion and I dare to say that "Transit" may be the best album he has treated us with so far.
