There was a time when I believed there was no way out of the oppressive regime in my mind. 30 years later as I write this, I have found a way through and out. The sensations and triggers of trauma still pass through me, but I am standing on solid ground now and I have found my kick-ass boots.

Trauma and coping with trauma seem like an endless cycle and the guilt and shame is real. But, step by step, I have walked myself down the mountain of shame and I have said my prayers at the waiters edge. I have dipped my soul in the healing tide and it has carried away my guilt. I survived. And I lived to tell the tale. It does get better. I am not who I was. Blessed be.
