The Ellipse Records project was born out of two common goals with Houseum Records: sharing music and putting forward promising artists. This sub-label highlights a new music library that oscillates between electro, breakbeat and ambient. The releases will combine exploration and texture through the symbiosis between artistic covers and sounds.

Here is the 3rd release of the label, produced by Aiden Francis who already has his own release (HSM009) on the main label Houseum Records. Sourcing influences from 90s Tech, house, trance and breaks Aiden Francis' pure passion for underground electronic music radiates through his music and DJ sets. Effortlessly drifting between different sounds and aesthetics, Aiden has managed to break himself free from the constraints of genre so that his true creative prowess can be flexed in full.

Aiden's quote about 'Twilight':
"I'm a massive fan of all kinds of electro, but soft electro/breaks holds a special place in my heart which is why I put loads of time into arranging this tune (it stressed me out getting it right, but I'm happy with the end result). Twilight developed during a period of time when I felt like I was hitting a brick wall when trying to make club orientated music. This strange writer's block for dance music prompted me to explore some softer motifs in my music, to which Twilight came along. Much like the astronomical phenomenon, Twilight softly glows and evolves into something more/or less... or I could be referencing the other Twilight, with vampires and wolves (Team Jacob all the way btw). So I'll let you decide on that one..."

We welcome Munich-based producer and DJ @nicjalusi to the label. He is part of the Super Sound Global crew, renowned for digging out all kinds of under the radar records, as well as releasing fine edits and OGs on their own imprint.

Following releases on Earth On Earth, Terra Magica, and his own label, we are happy to release „Aqua Dream“, Jalusi’s debut full-length EP.

On „Kickstart“ and „Relax Your Body“ (with SSG homie Pio) Nic chooses his Tech Ryder moniker to channel the good early prog house - with trippy synths, rolling basslines, nicely sprinkled vocal cutz and digidi-dope dub references.

For the following three tracks, Jalusi returns under his own name and rolls nicely below the 110 BPM mark. The title track „Aqua Dream“ is breaky balearic galore with an Italo- house touch, while „Affirmation Dub“ with its dramatic melodies and swingy drums would’ve fit in Weatherhalls „Massive Mellow“ mix back in the days. Finally, „Moments In Life“ is a deep downtempo affair that perfectly wraps up this 5-tracker. A debut record you shouldn’t miss out on!

With their EP triptych "Thee Church Ov Acid House Volume 1–3," Oliver Bradford and Jörn Elling Wuttke created a holy trinity of diverse dancefloor variations, a self-contained circle of rave history.

In itself already a heavyweight statement, which they now crowned with “Bells & Whistles - Thee Remixes”. So to speak the quadrature of the circle And as with their original material, this release also reveals a profound knowledge of dance history in the selection of remixers - combined with the best of the here and now.

A1:
The trip begins with Jamie Hodges' ( Born Under A Rhyming Planet ) version of “Acid House Planet”. Hodge was responsible for a number of legendary EPs on Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label in the early 90s, which explored the deep poetry of techno music. In this sense his remix is also a delicate affair of rarely heard beauty.

A2:
There's Thee Church Ov Acid House themselves, who stretch the swinging groove of Tyson's “G Phunk”, far too short in the original, to almost six minutes. A groove that won't stop.

B1:
And that brings us to the next two legends, this time from the local area. D-Man and Move-D have had a significant influence on dancefloor culture between Heidelberg and Mannheim since its inception. Their lysergic “Theme” remix, with Terrence McKenna vocals and acid twist in the middle, is an epic open air classic to come.

B2:  
Lennard Poschmann's aka O-Wells' version of “Rave Mantra”, on the other hand, is deep, digging bass techno for the darkest moments of the night.

Scandinavian artists Ohm & Kvadrant return to Kontakt Records to release their ‘Ejer’ and ‘Yding’ tracks on vinyl backed with remixes from Bluetrain aka Steve O’Sullivan and Mike Schommer. Ohm is an Icelandic artist known for his releases on Thule Records and Force Inc who now runs the AE limited sub label under Thule with fellow artists Thor and Octal Industries. Mike Schommer’s remix harmoniously balances pulsating percussion, deep compositions and layered pads that cruise throughout the duration.
