"the inspiration for this mix came from a special afterparty where i DJ’d after a rave i had co-organized in montreal last october. i had spent most of the night dealing with the cops and got a fine for noise. once at the afterparty, i got to channel my frustration into music; i played dub techno for hours. to me, the airy but deep grooves of that music provide space for both introspection and release. hope you feel it too."

"My warm-up mix is a zany trip through my mind for an hour and a peek into what a solo set from me at the festival might look like — 100% KL special low-frequency version. I’m happy to be showing more specific strains of what I do in B2Bs this year, and grateful for the opportunity to spin it out at the speed of sound in this mix. Influenced by the never-ending cycles of violence, corruption, and fascistic decline we’re forced to exist within on Earth, as well as the way music can be both a communicator of liberatory ideas and also a pacifying force to maintain the status quo of white supremacist capitalist patriarchy. The strategic adversary is fascism - free everywhere and destroy what destroys you. A better world is possible.

There's lots of music within visionary worldbuilders and friends and an upcoming release from myself, Johnny Zoloft, and Gladstone Deluxe entitled 'Total Body Extension'. Keep your heart and mind open - I hope this mix can soundtrack some moments of discord, headbanging, and hip-moving."

“'The Worst Band In The Universe' is a children’s book by author and illustrator Graeme Base that I had when I was a kid, and I loved it. It followed a ragtag band of outlaw musicians that lived in a universe where improvisation and new music were outlawed - only the traditional songs were allowed to be played. Despite the law, the band wailed hard and wailed freely, so they had to flee and were exiled to seedy, backwater planets where the underworld thrived in all its filth. There, they could rock. This is a recording of one of their live performances, given on the planet Ohio #2, played mostly on autosynthers and splitwangers, with a little bit of drump and snoogel being played as well. It was recorded by a being whose name is a type of screech that I cannot transcribe, and it was blasted off into space by that being’s sibling, Georgie. Now, it is available for your listening pleasure."

Johnny Zoloft is a DJ, organizer, and other things as well. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, they reside in Pittsburgh, PA in a house on the side of a hill with a nice view of the river and the train tracks. Along with MIRA MIRA, they co-organize the UHAUL Disco party series, which has been throwing lo-fi hi-quality DIY raves in Pittsburgh since 2019. In addition to performing on the decks as Johnny Zoloft, they have played drums & percussion in a number of ensembles, and they were part of a sick band called Datamaster that released a cool tape in 2022 called “Seldom Seen.” They enjoy robot sounds, free jazz, being non-binary, wearing a skirt, wearing boots, playing the drums, dancing, and making spaces for queer people to do whatever they please.

Couldn't be happier to kick off a six week run of weekly SORRYMIX releases with this fantastic set from our friend Razrbark (@razrbark) playing peak time for her Bossa Nova Civic Club debut 🎶

Stealing some copy here cause its too good --> "Part of the multidisciplinary Boof Sis squad, Razrbark bled into existence following an encounter with a sharp piece of wood during a pool party at a certain upstate music festival. Edge with her on the whimsy of evil."   🩸 🪵 🔪 

We've been fortunate enough to know Cleo for a minute now and her sets never fail to lock us in and bonk us out. Highly recommend listening to her set from the DJ Voices curated Hemlock Nights stage at last summer's Honcho Campout where she masterfully mixed everything from deep dub grooves to an unreleased Sobolik edit of Ray Baretto's "Acid" and The Brian Jonestown Massacre for what was a legit "A Star Is Born" moment for everyone lucky enough to be present!!
