a. Hi I’m Kelsey and I’m currently residing in Philadelphia, USA.

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. Story behind this mix was to try and meld more pop/trap north American contemporary ambient music I’ve been vibing with alongside a bit of a folk/dubient twist. I just wanted to try something new. My favorite style of ambient mixing is the textured notes melded with pretty variants. I don’t like things to stay the same for too long in mixes. It’s a journey and I want to take you with me through my mind.

q. what's the best way to enjoy your mix?
a. The best way to enjoy my mix is anywhere really. My hope is that it takes you somewhere new or allows you to zone out peacefully.

q. describe a favorite object in your living room...
a. I’m not home in my living room currently but when I am home my favorite item is my lava lamp my friend Rory gave me for my birthday 3 years ago. It’s very trippy.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
a. I’m working on a lot of music and have some promising things lined up. Id say watch out for them this fall and early-mid next year. ( :

It's a real joy to be able to say, at the end of each year, something to the effect of "wow, that was a wild ride!" and reflect on a roller coaster of highs and lows, new insights, perspectives, constellations, and lessons learned. And indeed, 2024 has been a joyous adventure of bright triumphs to celebrate and knotted gnarls to untangle. There's a quiet sense of precarity simmering under all things when one operates in the cutty twilight zone of the barely-legitimate real-deal underground, so it's always truly precious when we have a chance to notch one more soaring night together and to celebrate a big loop through time, despite the feeling that the clock is ticking. So after the last grains of temporal sand have slipped out of the hourglass of 2024, join us to flip the whole thing over, inside, and out, and take the first steps into 2025. 

Alternatively, if you're not into the foofy auspicious stuff like spiritually traversing the sand of time, and tracing meaning and destiny through solar and sidereal time and blablablabla, just come through to shake your ass, pop some bottles, hoot and holler, get a sloppy post-midnight new year's kiss, and kick off 2025 with fun and flair.... so come n' get it!!! We're thrilled to celebrate another HAPPY NEW YEAR with you!!!

For this mix, however, he increases the energy & tempo considerably, while maintaining the sense of texture that informs his music.

He recently put out an album on Quiet Time Tapes in September, and has previously released on Good Morning Tapes, INDEX:Records, and Ways Inner Pass.

it's a recording from a club set at a friend's diy space in nyc last september, from the release party for my last lp that just came out.

Lexcd is a Pittsburgh based DJ and organizer whose focus in music curation shifts between personal and communal forms of archival, connection, and experimentation. They are currently most interested in creating and supporting spaces/ events that are providing healthier shared sonic experiences and offering alternatives to standard nightlife practices. They have experimented with events at tea shops or saunas, and they have also worked on food-focused art/ sound events pushing for these alternatives. They are associated with Transit, Foodprep, and Bad Sauna's Sounds at the Sauna series. They work in the field of activism/ philanthropy.

My mix was made intuitively & luckily recorded in one take after I finished working the run-time & track arrangement :) Rather than focusing on specific tracks I wanted to share or any big picture concepts, I focused on a mood & track-to-track flow. I feel that this mix winds up diving into a sort of dreamy hazy nostalgia very reflective of the headspace I was in at the time of making it.
