Bside Incoming: Metropolitan Soul Museum

We're welcoming a London based duo to the Bside Turntables. Filippo and Nick Woolfson (Mock and Toof) used to run Teng Records and play together at the city’s premier venues like Peckham’s Rye Wax and DreamBags Juguarshoes, but for more than five years now they’ve operated under the name: Metropolitan Soul Museum (MSM)

They are top class producer’s and have released their ‘sonically melodic’ brand of electronic music on labels like Public Release, Rawax, Gestalt Records, Normals Welcome, Echocentric Records, Lyssna Records.
Filippo even played us a couple of their lovely productions! The beautiful E State from their Travellers EP as well as Call Super’s remix of one of Nick’s (Mock and Toof) tracks called The Key.

But here’s a banging Bside from their first release on a label that has featured on our 'Bside of' showcase … Toy Tonics:

As a Chicagoan, @Jacob-Meehan broadcast signals from behind the console at WLUW 88.7FM, behind the counter at Gramaphone Records, behind the decks at Smart Bar, and behind the scenes as a co-founder of the Men's Room parties. Berlin-based since 2016, he's the program director and a resident DJ of @radio-buttons & an organizing member of  WHOLE - United Queer Festival.

Coincidentally traveling to the US for some gigs at the end of February 2020, Meehan found himself back in Illinois for the following 18 moths, this set was recorded at the Mizz Softee party in Brooklyn, NY before his return to Berlin.

He also co-hosts the excellent @Nightshade_FM radio show, broadcasting live on Cape Cod Community Radio stations WOMR / WFMR.

At a young age Jazzdee was introduced to Funk, Disco and Hip Hop. “When i was young a collective in my hometown was promoting parties with local Funk and Hip Hop acts. Through them I got my interests in scratching and vinyl.”

It makes him a versatile artist at the moment delivering numerous timeless dj sets at places like Kiosk Radio or his own Jazzdee invites events. “As a tenor sax player i will try to put my time in creating new music, as a designer i would love to combine my passion for music and design and create a mixer.”  -- Remember the name!
