Out of Orbit on SutroFM

As a Chicagoan, @Jacob-Meehan broadcast signals from behind the console at WLUW 88.7FM, behind the counter at Gramaphone Records, behind the decks at Smart Bar, and behind the scenes as a co-founder of the Men's Room parties. Berlin-based since 2016, he's the program director and a resident DJ of @radio-buttons & an organizing member of  WHOLE - United Queer Festival.

Coincidentally traveling to the US for some gigs at the end of February 2020, Meehan found himself back in Illinois for the following 18 moths, this set was recorded at the Mizz Softee party in Brooklyn, NY before his return to Berlin.

He also co-hosts the excellent @Nightshade_FM radio show, broadcasting live on Cape Cod Community Radio stations WOMR / WFMR.

“Glitch Cathedral” is a dark and hypnotic journey into the depths of glitch-driven underground house. Six ritualistic tracks merge distorted kicks, deep sub-bass, and glitch textures with cold, fragmented female whispers. No melodies, no warmth – only relentless minimalism and industrial darkness. This LP feels like worship inside a digital cathedral, where machines pray in static and errors become holy chants.

For the past decade I have put out multiple mixes a year, but like many of us over the past year have struggled to find inspiration. That inspiration came just recently when, despite all the darkness that is swirling around us, I felt a spark of hope for the first time in a long time. There is still plenty of darkness on the path ahead, but I hope this feels like the soundtrack for navigating that path with a spark of hope lighting our way.⚡️🙂
