Hoje está por trás da festa "La Tudobem" que reúne garimpeiros e DJs de todo o mundo em Paris, e também desde 2020, é curador da direção artística do Le Mazette em Paris, clube localizado logo acima do rio Sena. DJs locais e internacionais são regularmente convidados a tocar e fazer parte do universo muito leve, alegre e tolerante que o Le Mazette tende a construir.

Music and dance. Guilhem originally played as "Maggie Musique", digging for off-the-radar pieces, with a large focus on Brazilian music. He also is behind "La Tudobem" parties that gather worldwide diggers and DJs in Paris. Since 2020, he curates the artistic direction of Le Mazette in Paris, a club located right above the Seine river. Both local and international DJs are regularly invited to play and make part of the very lightful, joyful and tolerant universe Le Mazette is tending to build.

For our 25th mix we're welcoming Amsterdam based selector DJ Tracksuit, who's supplied an hour and a half of beautiful world rhythms.

We've known Tim for a few years, having linked up previously when he did a mix for our 24 hour Live For Love fundraiser livestream during lockdown. His music taste and knowledge runs seriously deep, and is a DJ we're consistently blown away by. This mix is no different, and shows off his style and versatility.

DJ Tracksuit says: "I’ve been wanting to record this mix for a while but had troubles with turntables, tonearms, needles and in general, a very busy 2022. The result is a full vinyl mix of (mostly) psychedelic and percussive grooves from some of my favourite musical countries (Guadeloupe, Cape Verde & Haiti). Starting at 75 or so BPM all the way up to well over double that in a bit less than an hour and a half. I can imagine an Apricot Ballroom party have a similar (but more stretched out) progression! Protest music, slow & fast Gwo Ka or Zouk, Compas, Carnaval music. It’s all in there, including some of my all time favourite songs. This is the recording of my all night long set in IBoat's miniclub, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

First (hopefully of many!) "Jazz (We've Got)" radio show.

I've been wanting to do a show inspired by this idea for the longest while, just mining and digging back through jazz (+more) and hip hop with the art of sampling being a bridging link.

Recognising a sample in a song always felt like such a wonderful easter egg, and I've always found it fascinating how a song can be universally adored, with a small portion of it being loved so much that it would form the DNA of a new piece of music (for me to fall in love with too). The idea that there's this thread connecting artists and music transcending generations, backgrounds and genres is so utterly romantic to me.

Every episode will highlight (mainly) a jazz musician whose music I love, and I'll explore their sound and catalogue through hip hop productions that sampled their sound and recontextualized it to a new generation.

I'm hoping to develop this into a show where I can invite musicians and producers to chat more about the process of sampling as well as their fav samples/approaches to production. I'd also love to get this idea to a point where at the end of every show I can share an obscure jazz or funk track by an artist, and put an open call for producers to share their reworks/reimagining of the song to feature in the next episode. Would be cool for this to be a proper musical exchange!

But! That's for the future. For now I just want to share this 1st episode: an ode to one of my fav trumpet players, the legendary Freddie Hubbard. We'll hear some of his iconic pieces (specifically 'Red Clay') that spread through such a luminary career, retold through the music of A Tribe Called Quest, Charlotte Dos Santos, Gagle, Jack Wilkins, & Raekwon.

Immersed in music from a young age, Suze Ijó's path inevitably led her into the world of song and dance. The Rotterdam native found herself drawn to dancing and collecting records; a passion that notched up a level after she became a First Floor member.

A communal hub that used to exist in her home city, the space was designed for music lovers to come together to play, listen and talk, as well as collaborate on private events that are influenced by David Mancuso's infamous Loft parties.

That Loft manifesto feeds into the sounds in her own DJ sets too, whether in the booth or on the waves. From infectious Chicago house to uplifting 80s cuts and warm, soulful grooves; the mood transports you back to the heydays where dance floors were becoming spaces for freedom, self-expression and connection. It's music to bring people together, music to get you moving, and music to lose yourself in.
